Job Description

This Cybersecurity Support Specialist (CSS) position is an entry level information system security professional providing direct support to Security Services team members as well cross team support to other contract service teams. Daily duties include common Information System Security Officer (ISSO) support activities, which include data transfer (Low to High and High to Low), system compliance review and verification, vulnerability review and remediation coordination, as well as support to ongoing continuous monitoring activities.

In this role, a selected candidate will:

  • Work side-by-side with GDIT professionals delivering work for clients. 
  • Collaborate with a team of peers to learn and grow cybersecurity skills, knowledge and experience.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities through On-The-Job (OJT) training and available training courses curated via GDIT.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of fundamental information system security concepts, practices, and procedures with the following focus areas:

  • Understanding and application of fundamental network security principles and practices;
  • Understanding of basic system functions, security policies, technical security safeguards, and operational security measures;
  • Understanding of common system technology implementations, including but not limited to client-server, cloud computing, virtualization, web hosting, web content servers, policy servers, directory servers, firewalls, WAN, LAN, switches, and routers
  • Understanding of and ability to use common Information Technology (IT) operating systems (e.g. Microsoft Windows, LINUX, UNIX, Mac OS, etc.) and applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite);
  • Familiarity with detecting and preventing computer security compromises in a networked environment;
  • Ability to quickly learn and use tools focused on prevention and/or negation of malicious code (e.g HBSS, Anti Malware, ACAS);
  • Ability to apply a risk management philosophy when faced with security challenges and the ability to articulate the pro’s and con’s in a clear concise manner;
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply applicable Customer, IC, DoD policies, procedures and operating instructions related to Information Technology, Information Assurance, Information Management (IT/IA/IM);
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills to engender rapport with the military personnel, civilians, and other contractors at all levels;
  • Demonstrated ability to correlate audit results between various systems and/or users and notify the ISSM of any discrepancies.

Key requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorably adjudicated CI polygraph.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated relevant experience
  • At least an associate’s degree in an applicable field of study. (e.g. Information Systems, Networking, Cybersecurity)
  • Active and current 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification (CCNA-Security / CSA+ / GICSIP / GSEC / Security+CE / SSCP)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $81,349 - $93,550. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
