Job Description

SSA Receiving Section LeadPOSITION SUMMARYThe SSA Receiving Section Lead oversees all inbound materiel operations within a theater-level Supply Support Activity (SSA) in Southwest Asia (SWA). This role ensures accurate receipt, validation, documentation, and processing of all incoming Class II, III(P), IV, VII, and IX materiel. The manager directs receiving operations, supervises personnel, maintains accountability, and integrates GCSS-Army workflows to ensure timely and compliant materiel flow to storage, issue, and customer support sections.HOW A RECEIVING SECTION LEAD WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Oversees all SSA receiving operations including offloading, verification, and documentation of inbound materiel.
  • Ensures timely processing of receipts and accurate posting of transactions in GCSS-Army.
  • Validates shipment documentation, conducts discrepancy checks, and initiates Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) when required.
  • Coordinates with supported units, warehouse sections, and transportation teams to ensure proper materiel flow.
  • Verifies condition, quantity, and identification of received items; ensures proper handling of controlled or sensitive materiel.
  • Maintains historical receiving records and prepares daily receiving activity reports.
  • Supervises receiving personnel and ensures compliance with SSA SOPs, safety standards, and inventory procedures.
  • Conducts causative research and collaborates with Stock Control to resolve receiving-related inventory discrepancies.
  • Ensures correct staging, binning, and transfer of materiel to storage locations.
  • Manages HAZMAT receiving procedures, proper documentation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinates with host-nation logistics partners and port officials for inbound materiel requiring special handling.
  • Supports retrograde, lateral transfers, and inbound shipments requiring intermodal movement across the theater.
  • Ensures audit readiness and compliance with AR 710-2, DA PAM 710-2-2, AR 735-5, and theater logistics directives.
  • Participates in logistics synchronization meetings and cross-functional coordination boards.
  • Maintains accountability, safety, and operational continuity in austere or extreme-heat environments.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelors and 5+ years of experience or a HS Diploma or equivalent and 9+ years of experience in Army supply, logistics and material management operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of SSA receiving operations, documentation, and accountability procedures.
  • Proficiency with GCSS-Army, specifically receiving, MRO processing, and stock updates.
  • Experience with inventories, causative research, and reconciliation of receiving discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT receiving requirements and proper handling procedures.
  • Understanding of Army supply regulations, retrograde processes, and theater receiving policies.
  • Experience supervising Soldiers, DA civilians, or contractor personnel.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to meet LOGCAP V deployment requirements.
  • Active U.S. Secret clearance (preferred).
  • Valid U.S. passport and ability to meet CRC requirements.
  • Willingness to deploy to SWA or other assigned locations.
  • Ability to stand, bend and lift 40 lbs.
CERTIFICATIONS
  • HAZMAT / HAZCOM certification (required or obtainable after hire).
  • Theater-required certifications (AT, OPSEC, Cyber, etc.).
  • Forklift / MHE certification (preferred for offloading operations)

WORKING ENVIRONMENTWork is conducted in warehouse, yard, or outdoor environments with exposure to physical, environmental, and heat-related hazards. Required PPE includes head, hand, foot, torso, respiratory, and vision protection. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, host-nation standards, and applicable Army and company policies. Position may require extended duty hours.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
