Job Description

GDIT is seeking a tech-forward, innovation-driven Vice President to lead our FAA and Department of Transportation (DoT) portfolio within the Federal Civilian Division. The ideal candidate is a technologist turned business leader, someone whose career has been built in technical disciplines such as systems engineering, cloud modernization, enterprise infrastructure, application development, cyber, or advanced analytics, and who now leads large, complex, technology-centric portfolios with full P&L ownership.

The FAA and DoT portfolio delivers high‑impact IT and mission-enabling capabilities, including enterprise infrastructure services, digital modernization, cloud enablement, engineering and professional services, unified communications, cybersecurity, and emerging tech solutions such as AI/ML. The Vice President oversees a portfolio valued at more than $100M annually and reports directly to the Sector Vice President and General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical and business strategy for the FAA and Transportation portfolio, driving modernization, innovation, and mission impact.
• Lead a team of 6 direct reports and an organization of ~260 technical and operational staff.
• Hold full P&L responsibility, consistently meeting or exceeding financial, delivery, and growth targets.
• Provide strong technical oversight to ensure high-quality engineering, architecture, and solution delivery, along with exceptional customer satisfaction.
• Drive growth by leveraging deep technical expertise to shape winning solutions, expand digital capabilities, and deliver strong re-competes and new business wins.
• Ensure alignment with Sector, Division, and Company strategies while bringing forward new technology‑driven opportunities.
• Build, develop, and optimize a high‑performing technical team focused on innovation, efficiency, customer engagement, and mission success.
• Develop and execute both short- and long-term growth strategies grounded in emerging technologies, modernization trends, and customer mission needs.
• Integrate offerings from GDIT’s enterprise services—including cloud, infrastructure, cyber, software, and AI/ML—to enhance customer outcomes and competitive positioning.
• Foster a culture of accountability, technical curiosity, continuous learning, and high energy across the organization.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline (business acceptable with strong technical career progression) or 15+ years of relevant professional experience.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in technology-centric roles, evolving into executive oversight of IT and professional services portfolios supporting FAA and DoT.
• Proven experience running portfolios of at least $50M in annual revenue with full P&L accountability.
• Demonstrated success in technical growth leadership, including shaping winning technical solutions and proposals.
• Strong technical acumen across cloud, cyber, AI/ML, enterprise infrastructure, digital modernization, and mission systems.
• Deep experience building and maintaining senior customer relationships within the FAA and Transportation community.
• Thorough understanding of federal proposal development and evaluation, with the ability to craft compelling, tech-forward capture strategies.
• Established pipeline development and growth track record.
• Experience engaging with senior aviation/transportation entities such as ATCA, NATCA, PASS, or ICAO.
• Ability to travel 10–15% CONUS/OCONUS as required.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate and guide technical teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Hybrid work model in Falls Church, VA with at least 3 days per week onsite or at client locations.
