GDIT has an exciting opportunity to support the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine (SAG-U) as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s (USAREUR-AF) mission in Wiesbaden, Germany.
The Network Engineer will serve as a senior project support SME within the J6 Plans Division (J65), focused on solution design, documentation development, and integration planning for network-related mission initiatives. This position blends technical engineering knowledge with strong project support and documentation capabilities to ensure solutions are well-defined, approved, and delivered in alignment with mission and security requirements.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Network Engineer within J65, you will be instrumental in developing technical solutions to support enclave expansion, system integration, and partner connectivity. Your role will shape the documentation, diagrams, planning artifacts, and design materials that enable forward mission execution.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Serve as the J65 network design SME, developing system diagrams, integration documentation, and solution white papers for planned mission IT capabilities
Collaborate with Project Managers, Cybersecurity, and Engineering teams to define technical network requirements and identify integration risks
Translate mission objectives into technical network architectures and coordinate with engineering staff for feasibility assessments
Lead documentation efforts for new network implementations, including high-level design (HLD) and low-level design (LLD) packages, rack elevations, IP schemes, and enclave interconnectivity models
Support briefings and white papers to justify technical approaches, solution tradeoffs, and risk mitigation strategies
Contribute to configuration baselines, STIG compliance documentation, and RMF control mappings as part of planning and delivery
Coordinate with vendors or external stakeholders during design and requirements validation
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Education: Associate’s with 8 years, or Bachelor’s with 6 years in network design, engineering, or IT planning
Experience: 6+ years supporting DoD network infrastructure design or enterprise architecture planning
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of network protocols, routing/switching architecture, VLAN design, IP schema, and firewall rule logic; Expertise developing engineering documentation in Word, PowerPoint, and Visio; Familiarity with Cisco platforms and tools including ISE, FMC, ASA, and core Layer 3 switching
Clearance: Active DoD Secret clearance required
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required
ROLE REQUIREMENTS: Excellent written communication and diagramming skills; Ability to draft planning documents, architectural justifications, and risk mitigation recommendations; Experience working in collaborative IPT environments; Familiarity with RMF processes and cyber input to network design
CERTIFICATIONS: Required: IAT Level II (e.g. Security+ CE), Cisco CCNA; Preferred: CCNP, ITIL v4, or PMP
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience supporting joint mission or coalition enclave designs; Ability to translate strategic direction into actionable designs and implementation plans

The likely salary range for this position is $93,662 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
