Network Support Technician

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Network Support Technician - Intermediate, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful supporting mission of US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).

  • Manage / Support: Support datacenter and remote‑site technical operations by enforcing security protocols, sustaining system availability, and providing guidance to technicians. Manage daily workflows, system escalations, and mission‑critical support, ensuring dependable performance in both garrison and austere environments.

  • Collaborate: Work with contractor support groups, internal technical teams, and end users to resolve issues, coordinate escalations, and maintain shared situational awareness. Engage across support channels to ensure seamless mission execution and timely problem resolution.

  • Drive: Support operational reliability by proactively diagnosing issues, implementing system and network improvements, and maintaining consistent performance in demanding locations. Promote continuous improvement by identifying gaps, streamlining processes, and enabling rapid resolution of complex challenges.

  • Utilize: Use diagnostic tools, network management software, multi‑protocol communications technologies, cryptographic devices, and systems administration expertise to maintain and optimize hardware, software, and network components.

  • Monitor & Troubleshoot: Monitor hardware and software systems, diagnose issues using diagnostic tools, and resolve complex technical problems across datacenter and remote environments.

  • Configure & Maintain: Configure and maintain network components, operating systems, and system enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

  • Install & Administer: Install and maintain servers, desktops, and cabling; administer local and wide‑area network systems, including accounts, security, and OS deployments.

  • Support & Escalate: Provide Tier I/II support for field and garrison sites, coordinate escalations with contractor teams and internal support groups, and operate independently in austere locations.

  • Secure & Safeguard: Manage datacenter access controls and maintain cryptographic devices and keys to ensure secure operations.

  • Train & Assist: Assist with training and support to end users and junior technicians.

  • Repair & Maintain: Troubleshoot, repair, and sustain diverse hardware and software systems to ensure mission readiness.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Associates Degree or 2 years of related specialized experience in lieu of degree

  • Experience: 5+ years of related experience; work experience must include atleast 2 years of specialized experience.

  • Technical skills:

    • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support

    • Knowledge of related hardware and software

  • Security clearance level: TS/SCI

  • Required Certification(s):

    • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contract.

    • IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalent.

    • Required Computing Environment Certification: MCSA Windows Server 2012, Solaris 10, Linux+, VCP5, Azure Administrator Fundamentals etc.

  • Role Requirements:

    • On customer site daily support

    • Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract

    • Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity

    • Travel may be required to support the mission

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $29.01 - $39.25. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
