Job Description

The Enterprise Architect SME serves as a senior technical and solutions leader supporting multiple programs for a critical national intelligence community customer. This role combines classic enterprise architecture responsibilities (strategies, standards, roadmaps, governance) with hands-on program support, solutioning, and new business leadership across a portfolio of mission support contracts.

Key Duties

  • Develop and implement advanced enterprise and solution architecture strategies and frameworks that support multiple IC programs and mission systems.
  • Analyze mission and business requirements to design scalable, secure, and efficient IT and mission solutions for large, complex intelligence environments.
  • Ensure alignment of IT and mission solution strategies with organizational goals, customer objectives, and individual program needs.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documentation, including target architectures, roadmaps, CONOPS, solution narratives, and technical approaches that program teams can execute.
  • Collaborate with program managers, technical leads, business area leadership, and customer stakeholders to gather requirements and define technology roadmaps that guide both delivery and growth (recompetes, task orders, and new opportunities).
  • Assess current IT and mission infrastructure and identify areas for improvement, consolidation, or modernization to enhance performance, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee and guide the integration of new technologies and capabilities—including AI/ML, cloud, data platforms, automation, and GDIT Digital Accelerators—into existing architectures and program environments.
  • Establish and enforce architectural standards, policies, patterns, and guidelines that promote reuse, interoperability, security, and operational efficiency across the portfolio.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to IT and program teams on architectural best practices, solution design, and implementation tradeoffs; may coach and review the work of less experienced professionals.
  • Conduct regular architecture and technical reviews to ensure compliance with standards, effectiveness of implemented solutions, and alignment with mission and contractual objectives.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and IC/defense trends and apply them to inform architectural decisions, roadmaps, and competitive solution strategies.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among programs and functions, acting as a bridge between mission stakeholders, program management, engineering, and business development.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, and technologies that improve solution delivery, operations, and sustainment across supported programs.
  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with architectural changes and implementations, working with program leadership and customers to balance mission value, cost, and risk.
  • Lead or contribute to technical solutioning and proposal authorship for RFIs, RFPs, and task orders, including ownership of technical approaches, solution narratives, and key discriminators that drive evaluation scores.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned; may serve as a team or task lead on specific efforts and is recognized as a subject matter expert in mission solutions and enterprise architecture.
