Job Description

Transform data into insight as a Data Architect supporting the Department of the Navy’s Total Force Manpower and Human Resources (TFM&HR) portfolio. Your work will shape enterprise data strategy, enhance data availability, and support mission-driven decision making across the DON.

HOW A DATA ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Provide enterprise-wide data design and optimization for conceptual architecture and data solution projects, including conceptual, integration, and sourcing models, aligned with DON’s Total Force Manpower and HR strategy.
  • Collaborate with DoD and DON IT domains to support portfolio0 goals, ensuring alignment with DON Chief Data Office (CDO) priorities and improving availability of trusted data for insights and operational decision-making.
  • Generate high-level operational concept documents describing interactions between system architecture, the user environment, and external systems.
  • Create, modify, maintain, and document baselines for data transformation and standardization efforts using Jira or similar project management tools.
  • Translate enterprise and business needs into long-term information architecture patterns and solutions aligned with DON CDO policies, regulations, data frameworks, and governance standards.
  • Provide data modeling and validation services that produce flexible, extensible, and scalable data structure designs supporting effective business decisions.
  • Create and manage multiple data design deliverables including data models, diagrams, flows, and metadata within defined timelines.
  • Support the development, implementation, and sustainment of strategic data architecture initiatives including:
    • Master data management
    • Data quality programs
    • Data management policies and standards
    • Data governance practices
    • Metadata management frameworks

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Required Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, business, or a related field.
    • Three (3) years of experience modeling processes and data using architecture disciplines and industry modeling standards.
    • Three (3) years of experience with data management, enterprise repositories, data modeling, data quality, and data mapping tools.
  • Required Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to design enterprise data solutions that align with strategic data initiatives.
    • Experience developing conceptual and integration models for large-scale environments.
    • Strong collaboration skills for working across multi-domain DON and DoD IT teams.
    • Proficiency with data modeling tools and project management systems such as Jira.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex enterprise needs into scalable data design solutions.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Required Certifications
    • Current Network+, Security+, or higher, meeting DoD CIO Information Assurance (IA) certification requirements.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Ability to engage well with others and passionate about providing exemplary customer experience.
    • Ability to embrace change in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
  • Security Clearance: Secret

  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Position is contingent upon the Department of the Navy (DON) Security Office receiving favorable background investigation results for the Contractor Labor Associate (CLA) prior to the start date

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
