Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Air Quality Modeler to join our team and contribute to high-impact projects focused on the development, testing, implementation, and evaluation of meteorological and air quality models.    

  • Conduct meteorological model simulations and assess model performance using observational and reanalysis datasets.
  • Conduct air quality model simulations and prepare model evaluation products
  • Develop innovative approaches for advancing meteorological and air quality modeling accuracy
  • Create visualizations and reports to communicate modeling results
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including atmospheric scientists and emissions modeling experts

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in meteorology or atmospheric science + 10 yrs experience
  • Proficiency with meteorology models, such as WRF
  • Experience with air quality models, such as the CMAQ modeling system
  • Data analysis and visualization experience with Python or R
  • Experience working in a Unix/Linux operating system environment and proficiency with scripting languages
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise with observational datasets and GIS tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with air quality model evaluation and analysis tools
  • Publications or technical reports in meteorological or air quality modeling
  • Familiarity with coupled atmospheric models (e.g. WRF-CMAQ)

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $20,400 - $27,600. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
