GDIT is seeking a highly skilled Windows Desktop Engineers / Technicians to join our team. The Windows Desktop Engineers will provide support and maintenance for end-user systems and applications in a diverse and dynamic technical environment.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and support desktop systems, applications, and peripheral devices.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for hardware and software issues.
Collaborate with IT teams to develop and deploy desktop solutions.
Ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of desktop environments.
Develop and maintain system documentation, user guides, and technical procedures.
Implement and manage desktop security policies and best practices.
Conduct research and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency and user experience.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior desktop engineers and support staff.
Coordinate with vendors for maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field; 4+ years of relevant experience may substitute.
3 to 10+ years of experience in desktop engineering depending on level.
Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking principles, and cloud services.
Proven experience with desktop management tools such as SCCM, Jamf, or similar.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with virtualization technologies like VMware or Citrix.
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or similar.
Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, etc.).

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $40.35 - $54.59. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
