Job Description

Testing/Deployment Manager

Position Summary
The Testing/Deployment Manager leads the AWAKEN test‑lab environment and oversees all pre‑deployment validation, integration testing, and readiness certification for new hardware, software, firmware, and configurations prior to enterprise rollout. This key personnel role ensures every network, wireless, and security component is tested, documented, and approved before field deployment.

The Testing/Deployment Manager is responsible for test planning, test execution, defect tracking, MBSE‑aligned validation, deployment readiness, and coordination with engineering, cybersecurity, and Government stakeholders to ensure smooth, secure, and reliable implementation across AETC’s 25+ sites.

The Testing/Deployment Manager ensures that every change to AWAKEN—hardware refreshes, software updates, security improvements, and new site deployments—is validated, secure, and mission‑ready before reaching Airmen. This role protects network stability, enhances user experience, and upholds AETC’s cybersecurity and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Lab Management

  • Lead all activities within the contractor‑provided test environment/lab, including configuration, simulation of realistic user loads, and validation of new devices and software.
  • Develop, manage, and execute test plans, test cases, and test reports for AWAKEN enterprise hardware, software, and network services.
  • Conduct integration testing, performance validation, and security‑related testing, ensuring compatibility with the AETC environment and minimizing operational disruption.
  • Validate patches, bug fixes, firmware updates, and security upgrades before production deployment.
  • Ensure documented, complete, and reproducible test results are posted to the AWAKEN web portal per PWS requirements.

Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Apply MBSE techniques to validate enterprise configuration changes in a simulated environment before release.
  • Present MBSE‑driven test results and analysis to the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and security review boards to support approval of baseline changes.

Deployment Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate pre‑deployment activities with engineering, field teams, and the Government to ensure readiness for installations.
  • Validate site‑specific hardware, software lists, diagrams, RF modeling, ports/protocols, and capacity design prior to field deployment.
  • Ensure all deployment packages are complete, accurate, and compliant with technical and security requirements.
  • Support deployment teams and provide remote or on‑site technical expertise during complex installs or cutover events.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure all test outcomes meet AETC performance metrics—availability, latency, jitter, delivery rates, and uptime.
  • Validate compliance with STIGs, ACAS findings, security configurations, and RMF requirements in coordination with the ISSM.
  • Document defects, track resolutions, and verify closure through re‑testing.
  • Confirm that no new hardware or software is deployed without successful lab certification.

Collaboration & Government Engagement

  • Work directly with the COR and AWAKEN Government Technical Leads to gain approval for test results and deployment readiness.
  • Support PMRs by providing testing status, upcoming deployments, defect tracking, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate closely with Network Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Configuration Management, and Security teams.
  • Ensure that all stakeholders have visibility into test outcomes, risks, and mitigation strategies.

  • Experience managing engineering/test labs and validating enterprise‑scale hardware/software prior to deployment.
