Generator and HVAC Mechanic – Okinawa, Japan

Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and services on all types of generators and HVAC systems used by the U.S. Army. Rebuild 150kW EPP III generators, including the engine, main gen, and control panel.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Generator and HVAC Mechanic, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.

● Perform maintenance and sustainment on 3kW to 150kW, 50\60\400hz generators involving installation and removal of generators from fixed and mobile locations, troubleshoots and rebuilds engines, alternating current (AC) systems, direct current (DC) systems, electronic control systems and other program logic controls, electrical wiring and accessories.

● Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, Chillers, and Environmental Control Units – some are standalone units and others are mounted on trailers and vehicles.

● Maintain all types of commercial power generation equipment; military spec generators and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS).

● Completely disassemble, test, and reassemble EPP III generators down to the engine and main generator subcomponent level.

● Disassemble, inspect, test, and rebuild diesel engines.

● Fabricate wire harnesses and solder terminals.

● Troubleshoot and repair the dyno, load bank, and overload unit.

● Create final test reports.

● Some work will be in a generator shop environment and some work will be in a field environment.

● Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your Generator and HVAC expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Generator and HVAC Mechanic must have:

● Education: High School diploma

● Experience: BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience

● Technical skills: Extensive diesel engine rebuilding experience. Knowledge of generator parallel systems and switch gear. Experience with brazing copper tubing and evacuating and recharging refrigerant.

● Security Clearance: Secret

● Citizenship: US citizenship required

● Role requirements: US passport must not expire for at least 2 years, valid US driver’s license, and an international driver’s permit (AAA)
