Job Description

The Cognitive Enhancement Practitioner (CEP) is responsible for enhancing the cognitive and psychological performance of agency personnel through biofeedback, neurofeedback, cognitive training, and educational interventions. The CEP will interpret cognitive assessment results, deliver individualized and group-based performance enhancement training, and provide leadership advisement to optimize warfighter readiness and resilience.

HOW A COGNITIVE ENHANCEMENT PRACITIONER TRAINER WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

  • Conducts biofeedback and neurofeedback training to enhance cognitive and psychological performance.
  • Trains agency personnel individually and in groups in evidence-based cognitive and behavioral strategies, including attention and concentration, problem-solving, emotional regulation, energy management, memory enhancement, interpersonal skills, goal-setting, and strategies for managing TBI-related deficits.
  • Interpret and provide actionable feedback based on cognitive and psychological assessments, facilitating referrals to appropriate medical or program resources as needed.
  • Advises unit leadership on cognitive and performance psychology matters.
  • Develops, implements, and disseminates training materials in collaboration with unit and leadership.
  • Engages in psychophysiological and psychological performance research initiatives.
  • Provides comprehensive educational briefings on cognitive and psychological performance domains to units and command teams.
  • Documents interventions, utilization, referrals, and other relevant metrics as required by leadership.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years post-doctoral experience within the past 5 years, demonstrating expertise in performance psychology with military or high-performance athletic populations
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Capability to physically participate in military training exercises, including lifting up to 25 kg, navigating rough terrain, and operating in austere environments across various transport methods (aircraft, waterborne craft, and ground vehicles).

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Certification in Biofeedback (BCIA), Neurofeedback (BCIA), and/or International QEEG Certification Board (IQCB), or willingness to obtain.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Military background or prior experience working with Special Operations and or Military personnel.
  • Eligibility for credentialing and privileging to expand clinical capabilities, including state licensure in mental health, counseling, psychology, or social work.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Adherence to all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Compliance with Quality Assurance standards and training requirements.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

EDUCATION: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Human Performance, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, Sport Psychology, or a related discipline.

LOCATION: Various OCONUS & CONUS SITES

CLEARANCE: Must possess a Top-Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $108,979 - $147,443. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
