Job Description

Responsibilities 

  • Conducts or supports the conduct of evaluations and testing for new/next generation the Technical Security System applying the Technology Development Branch engineering process.  
  • Develops, maintains, and reviews system documentation to include technical requirements, evaluation reports, test plans, deployment instructions, and technical bulletins.  
  • Provides the Technical Security System technical support and services to Diplomatic Security field activities in order to maximize Technical Security System operational capabilities and the security of US embassies and posts worldwide.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers on new products and existing system improvements. 
  • Maintains testing labs and equipment.

General Expectations of the role  

  • Utilizes technical skills and initiative to further the work and mission of the Technology Development Branch engineering teams. Actively engages other team's members in use case development, problem solving, product evaluation, and other activities that promote cross pollination of thought and skills within the larger Technology Development Branch engineering group
  • Dependable and takes initiative  
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.  
  • Ability to read, edit, and interpret circuit diagrams and low-voltage electrical schematics.  
  • Familiar with the use and operation of a digital voltage meter for point-to-point system testing.  
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and support systems throughout the system lifecycle. 
  • Able to terminate and test copper and fiber cabling.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 + years of related technical security experience or the equivalent combination of education/training and/or experience. 
  • User level proficiency of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD/Visio) preferred. 
  • Minimum Secret level clearance issued by the Defense Security Service (DSS), Department of Defense (DoD) prior to contract performance  
  • Must currently posses a Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret

Preferred Certifications 

  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification - Security+ CE, ISC2 SSCP desired.  

Travel 

  • 15% travel may be required in support of contract 
  • International travel may be required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $34.85 - $47.15. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
