Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact supporting the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (AOUSC).  The AOUSC is responsible for providing oversight, supervision, and coordination of the court and judicial case management systems. These systems include the Judiciary’s Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) and Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) systems.

The Database Administrator will work as part of the PACER Development team responsible for developing, operating, and supporting internal and external systems that allow for secure public access to court electronic records for the Judiciary.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, operating, maintaining, and providing Tier 3 support for enabling services for CM/ECF and PACER.

The Database Administrator will execute the following responsibilities:

• Provide full operational lifecycle support of Informix, MySQL and other databases including administration, configuration, maintenance, performance tuning and security. This encompasses routine updates, monitoring, deployment activities, error diagnostics and correction, data extraction, and the remediation of all security findings.
• Work with enterprise DBAs to install, configure, secure, maintain, deploy, and support databases which reside on enterprise systems.
• Develop templates and implement standard configurations for all databases.
• Configure, maintain, and support Enterprise Replication services where required.
• Monitor database health and actively mitigate potential issues and downtime.
• Implement changes in all environments through approved change management processes.  This includes after business hours work for changes to production systems.
• Participate in the design and implementation of changes to new and existing database schemas.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of data migration strategies.
• Write SQL queries to extract data to support program and stakeholder requests.
• Work with enterprise administrators to ensure that databases are being backed up and perform annual recovery tests.
• Collaborate with Data Platform Engineers, Data Engineers, Architects, Security teams, and app teams.
• Ensure DB environments comply with all security, privacy, governance, & regulatory requirements.
• Preferred Experience: Informix, MySQL

QUALIFICATIONS

• MA/MS degree with 5+ years or BS/BA degree with 7+ years of general experience in IT systems.
• Strong experience administering cloud database platforms, including Informix and MySQL.
• Expertise in SQL, performance tuning, workload management, and database optimization.
• Experience operating databases in AWS or hybrid cloud environments.
• Proven ability to automate database administration using IaC and scripting .
• Familiarity with federal security, compliance, and audit requirements.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical and business teams.
• Effective communication and documentation skills.
• Knowledge of modern monitoring/observability tools and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience applying industry best practices and emerging data platform technologies.
• Consultant mindset and ability to work with stakeholders to define and improve database operations.
• Tools & Technologies: Informix, MySQL, RDS, monitoring/observability tools.
