Job Description

USPS is seeking a Project Manager to be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing projects from start to finish to ensure they meet goals, timelines, and budget requirements. The Project Manager will define project scope, develop schedules, manage resources, and communicate progress to stakeholders. The Project Manager will identify and mitigate risks, solve problems, and keep the team aligned and productive. A Project Manager ensures that project objectives are delivered successfully and that outcomes support organizational needs.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Project Manager, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USPS. You will play a crucial role in optimizing the business functions at USPS. We are seeking a Project Manager to join our team. This candidate will play a critical role in defining milestones, phases, and implementations, recommending process improvements and supports change management efforts.

   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Defines project requirements by identifying project milestones, phases, and elements, takes projects from assignment to implementation
  • Supports management team’s efforts in change management
  • Recommends and takes action to improve processes
  • Designs computer solutions along with other analysts and developers
  • Provides direction to the development and testing scrum teams
  • Oversees Work Management
  • Requires strong leadership and team-building skills to collaborate effectively with a group of high performing individuals as well as the Executive Leadership Team
  • Be a highly effective technical leader-by-example, mentoring the Application development team and using your expertise to guide the design, development, and maintenance of the application
  • Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why”, and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation
  • Possible SOX documentation
  • USPS Business Processes: Acquire comprehensive knowledge of USPS system environments and associated business processes.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills for collaboration across disciplines.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Intermediate Developer must have:
Education:

  • A degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred.
  • Alternative Path: If the candidate does not possess a relevant four-year degree, an additional four years of relevant work experience will be required.

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • 5-7 years experience in technology or software development, preferred
  • 2+ years experience Working Knowledge of one or more of the following qualifications:
    • Working knowledge of Java, UNIX, and SQL using Oracle DB
    • Prior management leadership experience

Security Clearance Level:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $96,569 - $130,651. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
