Job Description

GDIT is hiring an experienced Administrative Assistant to provide support to the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC), Animal Care and Use Review Office (ACURO), located at Fort Detrick, MD.

Hybrid schedule is subject to change as needed by the request of the government. Current schedule is:

  • Training period- on site T/W/TH, remote M/F.
  • Once trained on-site days will be T/W, Remote M/TH/F

ACURO is responsible for providing administrative and technical oversight of all research and testing protocols using animal models conducted by intramural and extramural laboratories funded by the US Army. ACURO reviews protocols for regulatory compliance and is the approval authority for animal use within USAMRMC.

What You'll Be Doing:

Central email account management -

  • Continual daily monitoring of ACURO’s central email account for incoming correspondence.
  • Respond to email queries regarding submissions or forward message to senior staff for response when necessary and annotate the individual responsible for processing each message.
  • Maintain accurate archive records, including all received and sent correspondence in an organized fashion to allow later reference as needed.
  • Notify investigators of upcoming submission deadlines and issue reminder notices to correspondents at appropriate intervals in accordance with office policy.

Protocol submission processing -

  • Receive electronic copies of new proposals and protocols, amendments, or modifications into appropriate electronic systems.
  • Create review package, entering appropriate data, or by retrieving an existing file for amendments or modifications.
  • Substantiate presence of all required documentation in each file
  • Update EGS as needed to maintain accurate data on each proposal.

Electronic Grants System operation and development -

  • Participate actively in all meetings regarding development and maintenance of EGS modules.-Provide ongoing guidance to office staff regarding utilization of the system and evolution of user guides. -Office Policy -
  • Be aware that files maintained by ACURO office are sensitive to the public and are proprietary in nature and must be maintained securely.
  • Adhere to all ACURO SOPs and policies.
  • Provide SOP review and input to senior ACURO staff regarding needed updates to policies.

What You'll Need (required):

  • High School diploma or higher.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, etc).
  • US Citizenship with he ability to pass a T1 security investigation.

What Would Be Even Better (preferred):

  • Prior experience providing administrative support within a veterinary, testing laboratory, or research facility preferred
  • Prior experience supporting DoD or government agencies preferred but not required

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $23.30 - $22.48. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
