Supply Support Activity (SSA) Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARYThe Supply Support Activity (SSA) Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all materiel management, warehouse operations, and customer support functions within a theater-level SSA operating in Southwest Asia (SWA). This role integrates stock control, GCSS-Army execution, and end-to-end supply chain oversight to ensure accurate accountability, efficient distribution, and consistent readiness for supported units across the Area of Responsibility (AOR). The SSA Manager directs daily operations, supervises staff, manages inventory accuracy, and ensures compliant execution of supply policies, retrograde activities, and theater-specific logistics requirements.HOW A LOGISTICS ANALYST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Monitors and execute daily SSA operations including receiving, storage, issuing, and turn-ins and COMSEC.
  • Conducts issuing, receiving, inventory management, cyclic counts, causative research, and discrepancy resolution.
  • Processes, validates, and manages all supply transactions within GCSS-Army.
  • Coordinates with supported units, maintenance activities, and higher headquarters to ensure timely materiel support.
  • Maintains historical stock records and prepares operational supply reports.
  • Implements and enforces SSA SOPs, safety standards, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Conducts shelf-life management, controlled items handling, and compliance activities.
  • Analyzes supply trends, demand history, and customer wait times to optimize operations.
  • Manages transportation coordination for materiel movement, including retrograde, lateral transfers, and receipts.
  • Ensures HAZMAT documentation, packaging, and regulatory compliance for outbound shipments.
  • Supports intermodal and host-nation logistics operations including port clearance and container management.
  • Maintains audit readiness and ensures adherence to AR 710-2, DA PAM 710-2-2, AR 735-5, ARCENT policy, and theater directives.
  • Participates in logistics boards, readiness briefings, and cross-functional coordination meetings.
  • Maintains accountability, safety, and operational continuity in austere or extreme-heat environments.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience or a HS Diploma and 9+ years of Army supply/logistics experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of SSA operations, stock control, and warehouse management.
  • Proficiency in GCSS-Army (warehouse and stock control functions).
  • Experience conducting inventories, causative research, and discrepancy reconciliation.
  • Understanding of Army supply regulations and accountability principles.
  • Knowledge of HAZMAT handling, packaging, and documentation requirements.
  • Familiarity with intermodal, retrograde, and theater-specific logistics operations.
  • Experience supervising Soldiers, DA civilians, or contractor personnel.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in austere, deployed, or extreme-climate environments.
  • Active U.S. Secret clearance (preferred).
  • Valid U.S. passport and ability to meet CRC deployment requirements.
  • Willingness to deploy to all areas within the CENTCOM AO or other assigned Southwest Asia locations.
  • Ability to stand, bend and lift 40 lbs.
CERTIFICATIONS
  • HAZMAT / HAZCOM certification (required or obtainable after hire).
  • Theater-required certifications (AT, OPSEC, Cyber, etc.).
  • Forklift / MHE certification (required or obtain after hire.).

WORKING ENVIRONMENTWork is conducted in warehouse, yard, or outdoor environments with exposure to physical, environmental, and heat-related hazards. Required PPE includes head, hand, foot, torso, respiratory, and vision protection. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, host-nation standards, and applicable Army and company policies. Position may require extended duty hours.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
