Job Description

The Membership Specialist plays a key role in supporting the integrity and effectiveness of Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) membership processes. This role involves monitoring compliance with OPTN policies and bylaws across transplant centers, organ procurement organizations (OPOs), and laboratories, as well as processing membership applications, maintaining accurate records, and performing data-driven analysis to enhance system quality.

The Membership Specialist acts as an essential liaison with members, providing guidance, ensuring regulatory adherence, and supporting the Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC) in their oversight activities.

Key Responsibilities

The Membership Specialist is responsible for

1. Compliance Monitoring

  • Monitor member performance and adherence to OPTN policies, bylaws, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct routine reviews of member information and identify potential deficiencies or areas for improvement.

2. Application Review

  • Analyze membership applications and update requests for completeness, accuracy, and compliance standards.
  • Work with applicants to address deficiencies and ensure necessary documentation is submitted.
  • Prepare application summaries and support committees reviewing membership requests.

3. Analysis & Reporting

  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of member performance metrics and trends.
  • Utilize dashboards and other documentation to support MPSC compliance reviews, performance improvement initiatives, and policy enforcement efforts.
  • Identify actionable insights and recommend improvements based on data analysis.

4. Stakeholder Communication

  • Respond promptly to inquiries from transplant centers, OPOs, and laboratories regarding membership applications, compliance, and policy-related questions.
  • Provide guidance and support to members navigating application and compliance processes.

5. Operational Support

  • Support MPSC activities, including member performance improvement and compliance reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records of applications, reviews, and membership data within OPTN tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure the seamless delivery of membership services.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Policy, Business Administration, Healthcare, Customer Service, or a related field.
  • At least one year experience in roles involving policy compliance, operational oversight, healthcare processes, or customer service.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong abilities in critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, Teams, and Excel. Experience in working within data-driven systems or databases is preferred.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with members and stakeholders.
  • Organizational Abilities: Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
  • Customer Service experience
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $26.56 - $35.94. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
