As an AI Cybersecurity Engineer Senior, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our federal healthcare customer.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

  • Play a crucial role in strengthening security operations by integrating advanced AI and machine learning capabilities into security testing, threat analysis, and defensive automation.

  • Lead efforts to design, develop, and operationalize AI‑driven security testing solutions that enhance vulnerability discovery, adversarial simulation, and overall cyber readiness.

  • Collaborate closely with security analysts, penetration testers, engineers, and operations teams to embed AI‑based efficiencies into existing cybersecurity workflows.

  • Drive innovation by identifying opportunities to automate complex security tasks, improve detection accuracy, and accelerate mission outcomes using responsible and explainable AI.

  • Utilize AI/ML frameworks, scripting languages, cloud environments, and security testing/analysis toolsets to build solutions tailored to mission needs.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
 

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, AI/ML engineering, security automation, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating AI/ML into security operations, testing, or threat analysis environments is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and tooling (such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn, or similar).
  • Strong scripting and automation abilities, particularly in Python.
  • Hands‑on experience with threat analytics, adversarial simulation techniques, or security automation pipelines.
  • Familiarity with penetration testing, red/blue team tools, or vulnerability assessment platforms.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and cloud security technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across distributed teams and communicate complex concepts clearly.

  • Occasional travel may be requested, but it is not required.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
