Job Description

GDIT is partnering with the Department of Veterans Affairs to modernize and secure the enterprise network that supports millions of Veterans nationwide. As the Deputy Program Manager, you’ll help guide major modernization efforts that strengthen the VA’s IT and telecommunications capabilities. This is a leadership role focused on delivering reliable, secure, and innovative network services at enterprise scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Support planning and execution of VA network modernization initiatives.

  • Oversee delivery of solutions such as SD‑WAN, WAN/LAN upgrades, VoIP/SIP, and wireless enhancements.

  • Coordinate design, architecture, implementation, and technical refresh activities.

  • Help manage program performance, reporting, risks, and issue resolution.

  • Support communication and alignment across VA stakeholders and technical teams.

  • Contribute to innovation, technology evaluations, and continuous improvement.

  • Mentor team members and assist with workflow coordination.

  • Help drive program execution, ensuring milestones, quality standards, and customer expectations are met.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in network/telecom operations, engineering, or program delivery.

  • Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and work in multi‑vendor environments.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity with modern network technologies (SD‑WAN, WAN, VoIP/SIP, wireless).

  • Ability to support major incident escalations in a 24×7 environment (as needed).

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience with federal agencies or large enterprise infrastructure programs.

  • PMP (must be willing and able to obtain within 6 months of start date)

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity/compliance frameworks (NIST, TIC, RMF).

  • Exposure to gateway/network design and modernization projects.

Nice‑to‑Have Certifications

  • CCNA / CCNP / CCIE

  • SD‑WAN certifications

  • Network+

  • • Hybrid position based out of NW DC or Martinsburg, WV (requires infrequent onsite attendance in Martinsburg, WV as needed).

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $124,093 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
