As a Passive Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next Gen (JSP ETM - NG).Selected candidate will support operations on-site at the Pentagon.Meaningful work and personal impact:
  • The Passive Engineer is responsible for tasks assigned by Coordinators in connection with service orders and repair activities related to Category 6 cabling, Voice over IP networks (VOIP), and fiber optic cabling infrastructure.
  • Maintaining the Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center, & buildings within the NCR supported by JSP. 
  • Performing 24/7/365 break-fix on all Inside Plant cable infrastructure under JSP purview.
  • O&M support to include an ISP Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD) to support the maintenance and clean-up of 1800 or more telecommunication rooms at the Pentagon, Mark Center and NCR and outlying buildings under JSP Operations purview, to include on site surveys, weekly reports denoting survey results (except in extenuating circumstances), develop maintenance plan for corrections and ensure the EIA/TIA 568A & 568B Standard and standards are upheld.
  • Analyzes, administers, and maintains telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure.
What you'll need to be successful (Required):Bring your program management expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The PassiveEngineer must have:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree.  An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in leu of degree.
  • Security Clearance: Active Top Secret required with the ability to obtain SCI.
  • Experience: 2+ years of related experience.
Technical Skills:
  • Must follow JSP and commercial best practice procedures, standards required for the design, implementation and installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation.
  • Must be familiar with BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with personnel of various expertise levels.
  • Solid Customer Support Skills in a high visibility environment.
  • Problem analysis and problem solving; Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems from an installation and basic design perspective.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $72,877 - $98,599. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
