Data Scientist MID

HOW A DATA SCIENTIST MID WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

Our work depends on a Mid-level Data Scientist to provide advanced analytics, data engineering, AI/ML development, and quantitative decision‑support within the Pacific theater.  You will help transform large, multi‑source intelligence datasets into actionable insights that drive operational planning, targeting, threat assessments, and senior‑leader decision‑making across the Indo‑Pacific theater.

As a Mid‑Level Data Scientist, you will:

  • Perform complex statistical analysis and data modeling to extract actionable insights from diverse intelligence datasets.
  • Design and implement advanced data visualizations to support JIOC analytical workflows and operational decision‑making.
  • Develop and validate statistical models to identify patterns, trends, and relationships across multi‑INT data sources.
  • Create and support the implementation of AI/ML algorithms and automated analytic systems that strengthen JIOC intelligence capabilities.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) across internal and external sources to inform intelligence production.
  • Build automated data integration, transformation, and conditioning pipelines to support all‑source analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with analysts and computer scientists to design and implement new data workflows, tools, and processes.
  • Create scripts, algorithms, and automated tools to reduce manual workloads and enhance analytical throughput.
  • Improve overall data quality, discoverability, and search capability, enhancing predictive modeling and operational analysis.
  • Apply experimental design principles to test hypotheses and improve intelligence production processes.
  • Assess existing data capabilities and recommend analytical, architectural, or process improvements for the intelligence enterprise.
  • Work hand‑in‑hand with intelligence analysts and operators to define operational data requirements and develop mission‑relevant data solutions.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI w/ polygraph

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field. 3-5 yrs related experience. At least a portion of your experience must be in the last 2 yrs.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data manipulation, analytics, and modeling.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, including Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and analytic methodologies.
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application to intelligence problems.
  • Experience with database systems, data management, and structured/unstructured data environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based big‑data technologies and scalable architectures.
  • Understanding of intelligence analysis processes, mission requirements, and multi‑INT data types.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets in complex operational environments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting Indo‑Pacific regional analysis (e.g., China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia).
  • Familiarity with DoW and IC production standards and processes.
  • Experience producing high‑visibility briefings for command leadership.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
