Job Description

Join GDIT in supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs through the Network Engineering, Design, Implementation and Infrastructure Support (NEDIIS) program. As the Network Modernization Deputy Program Manager, you will help lead delivery of secure, resilient, and modern IT and telecommunications capabilities across the VA enterprise. This role supports VA OIT in ensuring high‑quality network services that advance the mission of serving millions of veterans nationwide.

How You Will Make an Impact
• Assist the Program Manager with planning, coordinating, and executing multi‑year VA network modernization efforts.
• Oversee delivery of enterprise network solutions including WAN/LAN modernization, SD‑WAN, VoIP/SIP, wireless/5G, and infrastructure optimization.
• Ensure program performance meets contractual requirements, SLAs, KPIs, and VA acquisition standards.
• Support program documentation, deliverables, work plans, transition activities, and IPT engagement.
• Coordinate network architecture, Gateway/TIC design, configuration, implementation, and technical refreshes.
• Provide Tier IV escalation for complex telecom and IT operational issues.
• Maintain strong communication and alignment with VA stakeholders, PMO staff, and cross‑functional technical teams.
• Identify risks, manage trends, oversee reporting requirements, and support issue resolution.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, vendor solutions, and modernization opportunities.

• Mentor staff and contribute to workforce development and process improvement efforts.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or IT (or equivalent experience).

• An active PMP certification
• 5+ years of telecom/IT operations management experience delivering secure enterprise voice, video, data, and messaging services.
• Experience supporting large federal agencies or enterprise‑scale infrastructure programs.
• Ability to support 24×7×365 operations and major incident escalations.
• Strong understanding of federal compliance frameworks: FISMA, RMF, NIST 800‑53, TIC 3.0, STIG, and ATO processes.
• Experience with SD‑WAN, TIC Gateways, WAN/MPLS, provisioning, and modernization activities.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional technical teams and manage multi‑vendor/SIAM environments.
• Strong communication skills and experience coordinating with CORs, COs, PMOs, SMEs, and technical leads.
• Experience developing contractually required reports and supporting IPTs/working groups.

Desired Certifications
• CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
• SD‑WAN certifications

• Hybrid position based out of NW DC or Martinsburg, WV (requires weekly onsite attendance at one of these locations).

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $124,093 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
