Job Description

Network Administrator

GDIT has an exciting opportunity to support the Security Assistance Group – Ukraine (SAG-U) as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program supporting U.S. Army Europe and Africa’s (USAREUR-AF) mission in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The Network Administrator is a member of the J63 Network Operations (NetOps) team responsible for sustaining day-to-day network operations across SAG-U enclaves. This role focuses on monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network infrastructure and services, executing approved configuration changes, and supporting operational readiness for mission users. The Network Administrator works closely with Systems, Cybersecurity, and Service Desk teams to ensure secure, reliable, and supportable network services.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Network Administrator at GDIT, you will directly enable mission communications by keeping critical network services available, secure, and recoverable. Your work supports operational tempo by reducing outages, improving mean time to restore service, and ensuring network changes are implemented through disciplined governance.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Operate and maintain network infrastructure (routing, switching, network services, and supporting components) across multiple enclaves.
  • Monitor network health, respond to incidents, and perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for network degradation or outages.
  • Implement approved network changes in accordance with Change Management and CAB processes, including documenting implementation results and closure evidence.
  • Perform routine network device administration: configuration backups, IOS or firmware updates, port provisioning, VLAN changes, interface troubleshooting, and standardized configuration enforcement.
  • Maintain network documentation including device inventories, port maps, rack layouts, cable management updates, and as-built diagrams sufficient for sustainment and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate with Cybersecurity personnel to support secure configurations, traffic reviews, anomaly response, and basic compliance support (for example STIG-aligned settings and evidence collection when directed).
  • Support VoIP/VTC network connectivity troubleshooting and collaborate with stakeholders to restore service quickly during events or VIP mission requirements.
  • Coordinate with external organizations (NEC, DISA, partners, vendors as applicable) to resolve issues impacting mission connectivity and service delivery.
  • Assist with procurement and sustainment support as required (initial bills of material inputs, tracking replacements, and validating received equipment against needs).
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours support during maintenance windows, outages, or mission surges (including occasional weekend or holiday coverage).

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED with 6+ years of experience, Associate’s with 4 years, or Bachelor’s with 2 years of relevant experience
  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience administering routed and switched networks in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with Cisco switching and routing administration (IOS navigation, interface and VLAN configuration, troubleshooting).
  • Working understanding of network fundamentals: IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, DHCP, DNS dependencies, and common troubleshooting workflows.
  • Experience performing cable management and routine network cabinet maintenance.
  • Ability to follow governance and documentation standards, including producing clear updates for tickets, change records, and as-built documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment, escalate appropriately, and maintain operational discipline under time pressure.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position may require occasional physical activity such as lifting equipment, bending/crouching to troubleshoot, and extended periods of sitting.
  • Clearance: Active DoD TS/SCI clearance required
  • Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent written communication and diagramming skills
  • Ability to draft planning documents, architectural justifications, and risk mitigation recommendations
  • Experience working in collaborative IPT environments
  • Familiarity with RMF processes and cyber input to network design

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Required: IAT Level II (e.g. Security+ CE), Cisco CCNA
  • Preferred: CCNP, ITIL v4

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in multi-enclave or multi-tenant environments requiring high availability.
  • Familiarity with TACLANE or COMSEC-adjacent coordination activities (configuration support, maintenance troubleshooting, operational checks) under proper oversight.
  • Familiarity with NetFlow or network traffic analysis tooling, and basic support to anomaly investigations.
  • Experience supporting VoIP call routing or UC network connectivity troubleshooting.
