The Senior Health Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting a large-scale electronic medical record (EMR) modernization and sustainment program. This role focuses on the integration, optimization, and long-term operational support of EMR data across a large, federated healthcare environment. The Analyst is responsible for developing and validating technical documentation, ensuring the accuracy of data mapping logic, enhancing database and system performance, and supporting the reliability of Cache/IRIS and Ensemble systems used throughout the program.
A core function of the role is to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex data journaling, database filing, and system performance issues. The Senior Health Data Analyst works across multiple environments to review and optimize Cache classes, SQL scripts, extraction routines, and metadata processes. The role includes close collaboration with Client Architects and InterSystems engineers to conduct gap analyses, resolve database and server challenges, and support high-availability configurations. The Analyst also contributes to the development of APIs, technical guides, code libraries, and supports the rollout of Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools.
This role is remote with 25% travel to nationwide VA sites.

Key Responsibilities
Create and maintain user and technical documentation, including detailed mapping logic for external stakeholders.
Validate mapping logic and ensure accuracy across systems and processes.
Analyze and resolve journaling and data filing issues using Cache tools, and develop corrective action plans.
Review and optimize Cache classes across all regions and environments.
Review, validate, and enhance SQL table-loading scripts (Historical Pulls) across multiple districts.
Monitor and evaluate upgrades to Cache/IRIS databases and Ensemble to ensure stable performance.
Assess high-availability configurations for Cache/IRIS and Ensemble, validating alignment with program goals.
Analyze legacy EMR extraction processes and recommend enhancements to meet evolving Cerner metadata requirements.
Conduct performance analyses and recommend improvements for Cache/IRIS databases and Ensemble configurations.
Support troubleshooting efforts with InterSystems to resolve database and server issues.
Prepare weekly Cache/IRIS issue reports summarizing challenges and resolutions.
Conduct gap analysis with Client Architects to identify additional features or capabilities needed for metadata and change management.
Perform quality assurance reviews on software code, interfaces, and technical configurations.
Prepare and maintain technical artifacts, including technical guides, SOAP/REST APIs, code libraries, and related documentation.
Support development of technical components for the program’s Natural Language Processing (NLP) toolset.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of progressive electronic health records (EHR) support outcome-based functional capability a large-scale electronic medical record (EMR) modernization and sustainment program
3+ years of direct clinical information Systems and clinical data management experience supporting EHR activities for a software as a service (SaaS) managed EHR solution
Proficiency with Cache/IRIS databases, Ensemble, and SQL
Ability to conduct QA reviews on code, APIs, interfaces, and database processes
Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills
Advanced analytics experience
Cerner data validation expertise
Experience with data de-identification practices
Knowledge of HL7/FHIR reconciliation
Familiarity with senior-level workflow needs in large healthcare organizations
Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools
Understanding of Cerner metadata changes and legacy EMR extraction processes

The likely salary range for this position is $106,250 - $143,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
