Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable, high‑quality solutions on the Salesforce platform. This role is responsible for developing custom applications, optimizing business processes, supporting integrations, and ensuring the stability and performance of our Salesforce environment.

As a Salesforce Developer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USPS. You will play a crucial role in optimizing the business functions at USPS.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical problem‑solver who can translate business requirements into maintainable code, collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, and deliver solutions that enhance user experience and operational efficiency.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Salesforce Developer must have:
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred.
  • Alternative Path: If the candidate does not possess a relevant four-year degree, an additional four years of relevant work experience will be required.

Required Experience:

  • 8+ years of Information Technology experience.
  • 2-3 years of Required Technical Skills including:
    • Design, develop, test, and deploy custom solutions using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, and Salesforce APIs.
    • Build automation using Apex triggers, Flows, platform events, and batch processes.
  • Implement best practices for code quality, security, and performance.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, version control, and release management processes.
  • Configure Salesforce objects, fields, page layouts, record types, flows, and validation rules.
  • Optimize existing customizations and workflows for performance and maintainability.
  • Partner with admins and analysts to ensure cohesive platform architecture.
  • Develop and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, or custom services.
  • Ensure data quality, synchronization, and governance across systems.
  • Support data migrations, imports, and transformation activities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Salesforce Platform Developer I or II certification
  • Experience with Service Cloud, Experience Cloud, or custom application development.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Gearset, Copado, Azure DevOps, Git).
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns and scalable architecture design.
  • Proficiency in Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, SOQL/SOSL, and Salesforce APIs.
  • Experience building integrations using REST/SOAP APIs or middleware.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce security, sharing models, and governor limits.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs.
  • Strong debugging, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.

Security Clearance Level:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting
  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $96,569 - $130,651. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
