Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator
We are seeking an experienced Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join a collaborative and high-performing team supporting mission-critical systems. The Senior PostgreSQL DBA will be responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing administration of secure, highly available PostgreSQL.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Design, build, and maintain highly available, scalable PostgreSQL database environments.
Architect and implement database high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Perform advanced database administration tasks including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migration of PostgreSQL clusters and related components.
Monitor and tune database performance, including query optimization, index strategy, memory and storage configuration, and operating system–level tuning.
Implement and enforce database security best practices.
Design and maintain backup and recovery strategies to meet RPO/RTO objectives, including regular testing of restore procedures and documentation.
Collaborate with application development and DevOps/DevSecOps teams to support schema design and data modeling, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
Support and improve databases for provisioning, configuration management, and operational workflows.
Troubleshoot complex database incidents and performance issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing durable corrective actions.
Develop, maintain, and communicate database standards, best practices, and operational procedures.
Provide advanced technical guidance and mentoring to development and operations teams on effective use of PostgreSQL, data access patterns, and performance optimization.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
Bachelor’s degree in a technology discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
Significant hands-on experience in the design, deployment, operation, and maintenance of PostgreSQL databases in enterprise environments.
Strong experience with:
PostgreSQL installation, configuration, and lifecycle management across multiple environments.
High availability and disaster recovery.
Data modeling, schema design, and development best practices.
Practical experience administering PostgreSQL in hybrid environments.
Solid understanding of database security principles.
Experience integrating PostgreSQL management into DevOps/DevSecOps workflows, including:
Automation of backup, monitoring, and maintenance tasks.
Support for CI/CD processes involving database schema changes and migrations.
DoD 8140 IAT II compliant certification.
Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to design scalable, reliable, and secure database solutions to support enterprise applications.

The likely salary range for this position is $110,500 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
