As a Business Analyst supporting CMS, you will collaborate with our CMS customer, technical teams, and product leadership to define, clarify, and validate the business and interface requirements driving near real‑time claims adjudication and integration with COTS platforms.

How an Business Analyst will Make an Impact:

  • Collecting and analyzing business, data, and system requirements that support rapid adjudication, claims status, and fraud‑prevention capabilities.
  • Translating stakeholder needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and integration requirements that guide engineering teams.
  • Performing fit‑gap analysis between COTS capabilities and CMS workflows to identify required system integrations and workflow changes.
  • Documenting data mappings, validation rules, and transformation logic essential for near real‑time claim evaluation.
  • Working with Product Owners to refine backlog priorities and ensure stories are ready for development.
  • Participating in Agile ceremonies to clarify requirements, support sprint planning, and validate delivered functionality.
  • Supporting integration testing by confirming that functional, data, and performance expectations are met.
  • Developing process documentation, decision logs, and runbooks that support repeatable delivery and future option-year scalability.
  • Communicating risks, constraints, operational impacts, and requirement dependencies to CMS and internal stakeholders.
  • Assisting with training materials, business readiness tasks, and transition documentation as the POC evolves.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Education:

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) and/or Degree
     

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years related hands‑on business analysis experience

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience with CMS programs (Medicare Part A/B, DME, claims processing, or healthcare systems)
  • Experience working with business processes and re‑engineering
  • Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Experience supporting system integrations, data workflows, or claims/healthcare systems
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and requirements documentation tools
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Experience working in Scrum and/or SAFe Agile

Security Clearance Level:

  • Candidate must be willing and able to obtain a CMS Public Trust clearance (T4).
     

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical topics to various stakeholders, management levels, and non-technical audiences
  • Must have resided within the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.
     

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with data analysis, data mapping, and workflow modeling
  • Familiarity with integrations, event‑driven architectures, or API‑based workflows
  • Experience documenting functional, nonfunctional, and operational requirements for cloud‑based systems
  • Agile certifications (SAFe Agilist, Practitioner, Scrum Master)
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills in multi‑vendor or cross‑functional environments
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a fast‑paced POC environment

Location:

  • Prefer candidates local to the Baltimore/Northern VA area who can attend onsite meetings – travel will not be reimbursed.
  • Work may be performed Remote or Hybrid (On GDIT Site apx. 3-4 days a week)
     

Citizenship Required:

  • Must be a US Person who has lived in the United States at least three (3) out of the last five (5) years.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $96,569 - $130,651. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
