Job Description

NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER


Advance your career while impacting our national security in cyber as a Network Security Engineer with GDIT at the Joint Multinational Simulation Center - Indo Pacific, the Pacific's premier simulation complex. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

 

  • Act as a subject matter expert for network security best practices
  • Maintain secure network architectures across classified and unclassified enterprise environments
  • Enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures
  • Ensures high availability and resilience of network infrastructure supporting C2 systems
  • Conduct vulnerability and risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to maintain compliance with DoW cybersecurity standards
  • Supports ATO processes by maintaining system documentation of network security designs and configurations
  • Collaborate with the customer as well as cross-functional teams to integrate security into C2 systems without degrading performance or training effectiveness
  • Participates in special projects as required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Education: AS/AA in Information Technology or Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience
  • Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience; military experience preferred
  • Required Technical Skills:
    • Provides systems engineering expertise across the full lifecycle, including design, integration, operations, and sustainment of enterprise systems
    • Proven experience operating within enterprise scale or highly distributed network environments
    • Strong understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF), boundary related STIGs, and cybersecurity compliance requirements
    • Deep knowledge of routing, switching, and network protocols
    • Experience deploying and managing enterprise firewall solutions, including Cisco ASA and Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW)
    • Experience configuring and managing core network infrastructure, including switches and remote nodes within controlled or secured environments
    • Familiarity with IDS/IPS, VPNs, proxy solutions
    • Understanding of network segmentation and micro-segmentation
    • Understanding of encryption protocols (IPsec, SSL/TLS)
  • Certification: SEC+ is required; Network+ or CCNA will be considered
  • Security Clearance Level: SECRET clearance is required with ability to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
  • Required Skills and Abilities:
    • Must meet DoD 8570 IAM I certification
    • Superb communication skills with a strong emphasis on clear, thorough technical documentation
    • Strong analytical thinking and advanced problem solving capabilities in complex network security environments
    • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to escalate appropriately
    • Must be able to perform with minimal guidance
  • Location: On Customer Site/moderate travel to other customer sites throughout Pacific AoR

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $81,349 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
