CYBERSECURITY ENGINEER

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Cybersecurity Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of FAVES, supporting the Federal Aviation Administration. You will play a crucial role in delivering secure unified communications (Voice and Video) services to our customer.

Position role/responsibilities:

  • Cross Team Coordination & Communication
    • Serve as the primary liaison between Security (SOC) and Engineering.
    • Participate in regular forums to frame requirements and policy direction from customer and security teams.
    • Manage intake/triage of security requests and route to the appropriate engineering teams.
  • Vulnerability & Patch Management
    • Orchestrate and report on patching cycles (infrastructure and application) to ensure coverage and effectiveness.  Communicate results as needed to stakeholders and leadership.
    • Drive risk triage, ownership assignment, remediation tracking, and verification.
    • Facilitate the analysis and coordination of DoT Security Bulletins and their applicability to the operational environment; drive rapid reporting and remediation efforts with System Administrators.
  • Compliance, Audit & Governance
    • Participate in activities to map controls to security and compliance frameworks (NIST CSF, CIS Controls, STIG).
    • Coordinate audit requests, evidence collection, and control testing with engineering and SOC teams.
    • Maintain policy/standard updates, exceptions, and risk acceptance approvals.
    • Participate and facilitate customer facing engagements which drive analysis activities to ensure compliance.
    • Drive adoption and focus on utilization of code repositories to ensure good practices by team members scope with responsibility to produce code/scripts of various types.
  • Tooling Integration & Automation
    • Facilitate Engineering actions to fully integrate Enterprise infrastructure and applications with logging, authentication, monitoring, and SEIM capabilities.
    • Leverage on-staff system administrators to mature toolsets which facilitate rapid compliance, mitigation, and remediation actions.
    • Explore capabilities of Artificial Intelligence to produce/mature infrastructure, systems, and application security postures and functional integration opportunities.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

● Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
● Experience: 5+ years of related experience (FAA Preferred)
● Public Trust - Agency Specific

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $76,565 - $97,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
