DATA SCIENTIST ASSOCIATE

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Data Scientist Associate, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Diplomatic Security Bureau of the Department of State. You will play a crucial role in developing impactful solutions that assist in decision making for DOS Analysts and Leadership.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Data Scientist Associate must have:
● Education: Bachelor of Science
● Experience: 0+ years of related experience
● Security clearance level: Minimum Secret
● US citizenship required

● Technical Skills:

  • Basic to intermediate Python programming skills with exposure to common data science and AI/ML libraries.

  • Foundational understanding of machine learning algorithms and their typical use cases.

  • Ability to perform basic data modeling and create clear data visualizations using standard tools.

  • Coursework, projects, or internships involving software development or data science; exposure to language models is a plus.

  • Familiarity with using Windows and Linux environments for development and analysis.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings to team members or non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to document code, simple designs, and workflows for review.

  • Foundational knowledge of data science-related mathematics, including statistics and probability, linear algebra, and calculus, gained through coursework or self-study.

● Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop AI/ML tools based on customer requirements.

  • Communicate and work with team members to meet contractor obligations.

  • Lead and devise innovative methods and techniques to leverage AI/ML to improve insight gathering from various data sources.

  • Provide input to project planning and weekly reports.

  • Assist in documenting design, tool requirements, and user guides.

  • Assist senior team members on user engagement to understand user requirements and user challenges with a goal of improving tools.

  • Monitor data pipelines and model outputs to flag data quality issues.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $41,820 - $56,580. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
