Software Developer

GDIT has an opportunity for a Software Developer who will design, develop, troubleshoot, and analyze software programs for computer-based systems, specifically within the fields of multi-dimensional data and financial analytics. As required, provides inputs for documentation of new or existing programs.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
Use object-oriented techniques, programming languages, and standard methodologies, including classic development, waterfall, and agile methods.

• Perform deployment, installation, maintenance, quality control monitoring, and implementation of software

• Maintain/develop software products to be used on a variety of platforms

• Familiarity with task tracking tool like JIRA

• Background in web-based coding such as extensible Mark-up Language (XML) or GROOVY Script

• Knowledge of common use cases for AI, such as natural language processing (NLP) or predictive analytics, with a strong interest in continued learning

• Experience with Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), such as JBuilder and/or Eclipse

• Ability to design, train, test, and optimize machine learning models based on user requirements.

• Design, develop, and document system and subsystem-level code. This includes support for system requirements, preliminary design, detailed design and specifications, data dictionaries, interface control/design documents, user help information/manuals, maintenance information/manuals, operations information/manuals, program code, quality assurance activities, and test

• Develop customer requirements and information needs into software specifications that can be implemented

• Maintain/modify software code to add new features, correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or to improve system performance

• Perform system and unit level testing. This includes test plans and procedures

• Documentation of test results and development of special test code. Plan/conduct regression tests after each code modification, upgrade enhancement

• Exposure with Linux/UNIX and REST API is a plus

• Development experience (C++, JAVA, XML/XSD), scripting language experience, (Python or Perl), JAVA GUI development experience

• Interacts with project customers and stakeholders to report project status and manage subsystems requirements

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

● Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT or similar field required
● Experience: 1+ years of related experience required
● Technical skills: One plus (1+) years of programming experience in JAVA, C++, Python or similar languages. Software application design and development performing coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development process

● Desired skills: Oracle SQL, Relational databases, Cloud based computing and some finance knowledge as well as exposure to multi-dimensional databases. Active interests in exploring new AI techniques and applying them to solve real-world problems

● Location: HYBRID work schedule with an expectation the selected candidate will work three (3) days in office in Herndon, VA
