Stephen Marker leads strategy for the Cyber Systems Line of Business within General Dynamics Mission Systems. In this role, he shapes the strategy to ensure our cybersecurity product portfolio aligns with unmet customer needs across multiple market segments. This portfolio includes encryption, multilevel security, cross-domain, and cybersecurity products. In addition, he oversees the business development function which provides robust integration services around those technologies. Mr. Marker enjoys engaging with customers and partners to ensure that Cyber Systems’ research and development investments are aligned with their critical mission needs.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Marker was the Director of Product Strategy where he helped oversee roadmaps, IR&D investments, and product portfolio market strategies. Mr. Marker has also served as a Technical Fellow and the Deputy Director of Technology, providing guidance across a large portfolio of cybersecurity and insider threat detection products and programs for the Intelligence Community, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Department of Defense. In this capacity he also led government/industry working groups for cybersecurity on behalf of the senior leadership of DoD, DHS, and industry members within the CIKR sectors.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Marker spent over a decade leading large programs within the Intelligence Community on cyber defense, advanced intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensing platforms, and modernizing national architectures. He has invented, and transitioned into operations, many capabilities including new data compression methods, intelligence trending and alerting algorithms, and sensor data enrichment algorithms. He has also authored and published international standards for data sharing within the geospatial community.
In 2013, he received the General Dynamics President’s Innovation Award for conceptualizing, developing, and deploying a new worldwide enterprise architecture that reduced intelligence analysis timelines from days to seconds.
Mr. Marker graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with both a M.S.E in Computer Science and a B.S.E. in Computer Engineering. In his spare time, Mr. Marker helps shape the next generation through leadership roles in multiple youth organizations including Boy Scouts of America and FIRST Lego League robotics.
