Recognition highlights GDIT’s continued investment in people, innovation and mission-driven culture
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it was named to The Washington Post’s Top Workplaces 2025 list. GDIT was ranked number nine among largest employers in the DC metro region.
“This recognition is about our people – their dedication to mission, commitment to each other and drive to continuously grow and lead,” said Amy Gilliland, GDIT’s president. “We’ve worked hard to create an environment where people feel seen, supported and inspired. Receiving this award for the fourth consecutive year is a powerful validation of that work and the culture we’ve built.”
Over the past year, GDIT has doubled down on strategic investments that support both customers’ mission success and employee growth. These include investments in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cyber and quantum, growing the company’s network of research and development labs throughout the U.S., and deepening partnerships with commercial technology companies. These investments have enabled employees to work on some of the most innovative, complex and high-impact government missions.
Complementing its innovation focus, GDIT has expanded career development initiatives across the organization, including leadership development, enhanced employee tech skills and certifications, and internal mobility programs. In 2024, GDIT employees completed 29,000 courses in AI, cyber and other technologies, and over 5,000 moved internally to take advantage of opportunities in these areas.
With veterans comprising 30% of GDIT’s workforce, the company has invested in various programs to enable military service members to transition successfully to civilian careers. The company is a partner in the Department of Defense’s SkillBridge program, which allows service members to gain civilian experience through industry-specific training, apprenticeships and internships during the last 180 days of active duty. GDIT’s Military Talent Acclimate Program matches new veteran hires with sponsors who provide support during the first 30 days on the job, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
Furthermore, GDIT has enhanced its commitment to employee well-being through the “How Are You, Really?” mental health awareness campaign, launched in fall 2021. The company had added several new initiatives to this campaign, including forming a partnership last year with the National Alliance of Mental Illness.
The Post award, given annually, is based on the results of an employee survey carried out by an outside research and consulting firm. The survey measures the employee experience on various critical drivers, including employees feeling respected and supported, enabled to grow and empowered to execute. More than 450 companies participated in this year’s contest.
