Vion delivers AI, zero trust and mission software capabilities in a suitcase-sized kit to enable warfighters to collaborate with coalition forces securely in contested environments
FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), announced today that it successfully demonstrated its new Vion Mission Partner Environment (MPE) solution during the Olympus Fires 2026 military exercise in the Pacific region.
During the Olympus Fires exercise, GDIT demonstrated how warfighters can deploy Vion, a next-generation mobile MPE kit, within hours to communicate securely with allies in disconnected environments. Built with live AI-backed language translation, advanced voice, video, chat and email collaboration tools, and AI-assisted software development capabilities, Vion enables warfighters to quickly share and visualize intelligence and threat data – all protected by advanced zero trust cybersecurity. During the exercise, GDIT also integrated Vion with its Defense Operations Grid-Mesh Accelerator (DOGMA) AI solution to seamlessly integrate disparate sensor data across mission partners in a single user-friendly interface with advanced analytics.
Olympus Fires is a premier military exercise that tests and advances battlefield collaboration and communication capabilities. The exercise brings together thousands of service members from multiple allied nations to validate MPEs, trusted environments that enable the Pentagon and its partners to share information at all security levels in contested conditions to support coordinated military action. As global conflicts and threats intensify, rapidly deployable MPE solutions are vital to partnering effectively with allies and protecting national security.
Vion’s ability to share data securely with coalition partners and seamlessly connect from the tactical edge to enterprise systems will enable the Pentagon and its allies to support a wide range of real-world operations. In austere environments, coalition forces can activate Vion to coordinate strikes against fortified targets by processing data at the edge. In joint all-domain operations, Vion can ingest and interpret all types of data from any coalition partner, including drone surveillance, maritime sensors and satellite imagery into a single battlespace display so every partner can access the same intelligence in real time. In rapid expeditionary deployment, a joint task force can transport the kit and begin operations within hours, scaling from a small forward team to a full joint command post.
"The conflicts unfolding around the world today demonstrate that the ability to fight alongside our allies, securely and in real time, is decisive to mission success," said Brian Sheridan, GDIT's senior vice president for Defense. "We have invested in Vion so our warfighters have the advanced Mission Partner Environment capabilities they need, especially in austere locations, to prevail in today’s warfare. Through this portable kit, mission operations that would normally take several days can now be deployed in hours.”
Olympus Fires is the latest in a series of exercises where GDIT has recently demonstrated advanced mission solutions to the Department of War. At Exercise Mobility Guardian 2025, the company demonstrated a portable, ruggedized cloud-in-a-box solution to support air mobility operations in disconnected environments. At Cyber Fortress 2025, GDIT successfully demonstrated an adapted version of the DOGMA solution to detect aerial threats to critical infrastructure and support coordinated response efforts.
The Vion solution demonstration also aligns with GDIT’s broader Vision, Innovation and Acceleration (VIA) strategy unveiled earlier this year, which prioritizes investment in delivering next-generation mission solutions.
GDIT is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), a global aerospace and defense company that offers a broad portfolio of products and services in business aviation; ship construction and repair; land combat vehicles, weapons systems and munitions; and technology products and services.
