Our work depends on a Mid Electrical CAD Engineer joining our team to support the Program Executive Office for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS) activities.

As a Mid Electrical CAD Engineer supporting PEO IWS, you will be trusted to bring together a multi-disciplinary team that is geographically dispersed to provide engineering planning, design, integration, installation, and test of Aegis Combat Systems (ACS) onboard ships post-construction and during maintenance availabilities.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepares drawings, which require a high degree of precision.

  • Performs difficult assignments requiring considerable initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise.

  • Assures that anticipated problems in manufacture, assembly, installation and operation are resolved by the drawing produced.

  • Prepares and maintains ECNs to drawings in support of AWS deliverable cable sets.

  • May exercise independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on knowledge of the design intent.

  • Knowledgeable with all tools of the trade (CAD program, rulers, compass, divider, calculator etc.) and complete knowledge of drafting and design standards.

  • Provides advice, guidance, and instruction to drafters.

  • May serve as a point of contact for complex drafting projects.

  • Ability to prepare a complete drawing package with supervision.

  • Ability to lead Site Visits to vessels and shore sites to gather technical data for drawing development.

  • Calculates Weight and Moments changes as a result of drawing.

  • Calculates electrical loads or heat loads for specific drawing and provide proper breakers, cable type/size or heat exchanger for requirements.

  • Selects proper material for structural members.

  • Assists Electrical/Mechanical engineers for stress/electrical/mechanical calculations.

  • Revises drawings to reflect As-Installed Conditions.

  • Thorough knowledge of Model Space/Paper Space techniques.

  • Trained for LiDAR scanning.

  • Complete understanding of Weight Group assignments for Ships Systems and manual for BSCI/ESWBS grouping.

  • Ability to research existing conditions and to find that information.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of all Government and Commercial Design and Drafting requirements.

  • Computer literacy, including use of word-processing, spreadsheet, database software.

  • Ability to assist in customization of CAD Software.

  • Intimate knowledge of Designing and Drafting Software.

  • Seasoned oral and written communication skills.

  • Capacity to sustain keen attention to detail.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • BA/BS and 6+ years of relevant experience (or 10+ years of experience without a degree)

  • A US DoD Secret security clearance is required.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of the larger GDIT Navy and Marine Corps Sector.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $82,283 - $111,323. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
