Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform TEMPEST Countermeasures Reviews, Visual TEMPEST Inspections (VTI), and TEMPEST technical inspections, assessments, evaluations and reviews.
  • Ensure timely, accurate completion of all TEMPEST reports, checklists, PDS requests, Countermeasure Reviews, and training requirements in accordance with National Policy, DoD directives, and CTTA guidance.
  • Assist in executing the customer’s TEMPEST program, analyzing requirements, implementing programs and processes for controlling or mitigating compromising emanations from customer equipment and facilities. Interpret security policy and regulations governing TEMPEST as they apply to customer facilities, systems and equipment.
  • Provide advice and assistance to customers to ensure the collection of information required to facilitate the TEMPEST mission to include: building/floor drawings or schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, shielding, power systems, signal data and power line routing, HVAC ductwork and other utility wiring or piping.
  • Assist customers with automated workflow process requests (TEMPEST support requests, checklists, PDS requests, Countermeasure Reviews).
  • Perform TEMPEST testing and VTIs for facilities, systems, and equipment (including SCIFs and PDS), and conduct site assistance visits as directed by the CTTA.
  • Represent the CTTA in meetings or briefs relating to customer facilities, systems, and equipment that process classified information and provide the CTTA with details necessary to properly assess the scope as related to TEMPEST.
  • Maintain accuracy of the TEMPEST Automated Workflow Process and ensure inspections, reviews, and assessments are completed on schedule in accordance with National, DoD, and Agency policy.
  • Maintain TEMPEST qualifications as required by National, DoD, and Agency policy. Maintain TEMPEST test equipment and coordinate repairs and calibrations as required.
  • Coordinate with other components of customer and partners to ensure TEMPEST requirements and countermeasures are in adherence.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance on TEMPEST processes, countermeasures, wireless best practices, and compliance with National TEMPEST policy.
  • Evaluate and recommend countermeasures to the CTTA; prepare cost/implementation estimates as required.
  • Maintain appropriate records to include Technical review, inspection and evaluation reports, VTI reports, TEMPEST checklists and waivers. Maintain and update records in the TEMPEST automated Workflow Process.
  • Possess awareness of National policies and DoD polices regarding TEMPEST (e.g. National Security Telecommunications & Information System – policy and instruction, etc.).
  • Assist implementation of TSSC Technician OJT program preparing technicians for success through training and hands on experience.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

7+ years experience in TEMPEST, Physical or Technical Security, or Facility Inspection related fields

Desired:

  • Possess the National TEMPEST School certifications for completion of TEMPEST Fundamentals and TEMPEST for System Installation and Facility Design courses
  • Possess experience with facility accreditation inspections, shielding, grounding, and Protected Distribution Systems
  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Be a credentialed graduate of an accredited federal or DoD CI training academy (ex. FBI Academy, etc.)
  • Possess advanced TEMPEST training

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $103,700 - $140,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
