As a Sr. T Quality Assurance Tester, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the National Institute of Health (NIH), National Heart Lung and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) and its software portfolio. The team delivers innovative solutions for improving the effectiveness, reach, and content of these software solutions, while reducing their technical debt, and modernizing systems.

You will be responsible for contributing across the software lifecycle, with an emphasis on testing. As such, this role requires a combination of understanding software requirements and validating the implementation of those requirements through testing.  The Test Engineer will perform functional, regression, smoke and 508 testing, using manual and automated testing.  You will also be expected to write necessary test plans and scripts. Working closely with analysts, developers and mentoring more junior testers throughout the software lifecycle (from requirements to deployment) is part of the job. We are in search of someone who has a strong understanding of industry trends and using agile methodologies for incorporating testing as part of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in an agile environment with rapidly changing requirements.
  • Understand application requirements and functionalities in order to support the agile team as a tester.
  • Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like test data, data validation, and automated scripts.
  • Create clear and detail-oriented test plans and scripts.
  • Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
  • Maintain the integrity of automated tests (Subject 7). Adapt test automation to suit project needs.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration and smoke testing.
  • Perform 508 testing.
  • Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
  • Be a liaison with development and engineering support teams to assist with troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with team members (Development, Testing Engineers, Analysts, Scrum Master), Product Owner and Business partners to ensure that proper software testing methodologies are used, product requirements/issues are documented and diagnosed, and testing is completed according to established deadlines and processes.
  • Collaborate with the team on agile activities including estimation, iterative planning and retrospectives.
