Job Description

The Cybersecurity Automation Engineer is responsible for the implementation of automation related to certificate lifecycle management, and implementation in other areas as required.  Works as part of a team for reviewing, assessing and developing courses of action related to automating Certificate Lifecycle Management operations. The Cybersecurity Automation Engineer will routinely review the current state of operations, including the degree of automation currently enabled, the automation tools employed, measure the degree of success from existing automation and the skill set of the current staff, and incorporate proper documentation methodologies. The Engineer will also examine the types of certificates used, and the use cases in which they are deployed. The Engineer will also develop proof of concept automation scripts which can deployed by the operations team, and the metrics / dashboard which will be used to track the performance of the automation.  The Engineer will also work with and train the operations staff in the use and maintenance of the automations developed.

To support our team, you will need to be experienced, driven, and have strong coding skills in automation. You will be collaborating closely with peers and customers, which means you need to be an active listener, detail oriented, and a clear communicator.

What You'll Do

  • Take a leadership role in designing, building, implementing, and maintaining certificate management infrastructure.
  • Mature the automation efforts of the lifecycle of a certificate.
  • Use and administer automation tools such as Splunk SOAR, Ansible, ServiceNow, and Venafi. 
  • Write documentation and provide training around automation tools.
  • Be mindful of customer needs and clearly communicate complex information.
  • Demonstrate a high attention to detail, examining every aspect of the system.
  • Exercise strong time management skills by taking on multiple projects simultaneously while debugging issues reported by customers.
  • Be attentive to communication and productivity tools ensuring inquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Recommend system improvements and changes to systems, as needed.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • BA/BS or equivalent, 5+ years of experience
  • 3+ years of Systems Engineer, Cybersecurity Operations or similar experience
  • SOAR Engineer capable of composing playbooks
  • Advanced knowledge, including 2+ years of experience, in one or more of the following areas:
    • Experience working with automation tools, such as Ansible, Splunk SOAR, Chef, Puppet, etc.
    • Experience developing and implementing workflows for process optimization, tracking, and reporting
  • Experience working with Application Programming Interfaces (API)
  • Experience with one or more scripting languages, such as YAML, Python, Bash, PowerShell, and/or Ruby

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with certificate management
  • Basic familiarity with the Venafi Machine Identity Management platform for Certificate Management Lifecycle.
  • Dashboard content creation and management optimizing reporting, real-time data metrics, and informing stakeholders.
  • Custom tool integrations and interfaces optimization.
  • Understanding of system resiliency, uptime, and availability best practices.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $108,800 - $147,200. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
