Job Description

GDIT has an exciting opportunity to support NATO Allied SOFCOM for a 3 month TDY assignment in Mons, Belgium as a member of our Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services (EMITS) program.

The Network Administrator will be responsible for the design, development, installation, and management of data communications networks as well as providing proactive network management of switches routers, and other ancillary devices to ensure a constant state of readiness and availability. The Network Administrator will ensure the network is properly configured and operating efficiently while maintaining constant network availability and 100% network uptime. The Network Administrator will support a network migration including preparation of network diagrams, managing network configuration and infrastructure, VOIP transition, and problem resolution support in coordination with the enterprise service desk.

HOW A NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Develop network transition plan and migration schedule in collaboration with government network support personnel

  • Develop technical solutions for the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters and servers

  • Connect network hardware using OSP fiber infrastructure

  • Connect user workstations and/or Wireless Access Points (WAP) with Internal Cable Distribution (ICDS) infrastructure

  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot High Assurance Inline Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) supporting a multi-domain environment

  • Establish and troubleshoot connections with remote network personnel in a multi-domain environment

  • Coordinate secure network transition and support transition of secure Cisco-based VOIP phones and VTC.

  • Support plant cable management for multiple network classifications and manage bench stock inventory and organization log

  • Prepare network diagrams and technical documentation

  • Provide technical network support in conjunction with Enterprise Service Desk personnel, including troubleshooting and touch labor service support as needed

  • Critically evaluate existing network systems and plan long-term strategies to ensure network capacity meets current and future network requirements 

  • Monitor network performance. Independently troubleshoot and resolve highly complex problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network.

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on a regularly scheduled basis

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: BA/BS (or equivalent experience)

  • Required Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated Network Administration/Engineering experience

  • Certificates: Must possess DOD 8140 compliant certification (i.e. Security+ CE or equivalent) as well as CCNA, CCNP or equivalent industry certification

  • Security Clearance Level: US Secret (SSBI) Security Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI as required

  • Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)

    • Knowledge and experience with current Cisco IOS software and hardware features

    • Knowledge and experience with VoIP/collaboration systems

    • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

This project will be supported on a TDY basis onsite at customer locations in Mons and Chievres, Belgium. The anticipated duration of the project is 3 months.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $93,500 - $126,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
