Job Description

TECHNICAL LEAD   Praxis successfully delivers a prime contract supporting High Performance Computing (HPC) for a government customer and its select mission partners. This contract provides scientific computing support, advanced computing capabilities, and interfaces to IT infrastructures to enabling high fidelity, advanced analytics by delivering the highest quality technical capabilities and engineering support to its customers. The infrastructure includes state of the art hardware, software, and networks. The program supports an advanced computing infrastructure containing clustered supercomputing class CPUs and GPUs, software defined storage, and advanced networking delivering advanced scientific modeling and data analytic results. This environment provides unprecedented access to computational power and analytic throughput to solve the government’s most challenging computational and scientific problems to deliver mission results.   What you will be doing   The ideal candidate will play a key role in continuously improving and operating some of the most sophisticated computing platforms that the client has to bring deliver solutions against complex problems. These systems enable complex analysis, simulation and modeling leveraging massively computing against disparate holding of very large data sets, to answer difficult questions.   How this role fits   To do this you will work closely with the customers, existing team members and the Program Management Office (PMO) to continuously advance the state of the art in this HPC environment. You have both the technical acumen, expertise in systems operations and task management discipline that allows you credibility succeed with all stakeholder. Your primary responsibility is to oversee the existing and future system leveraging your knowledge of Linux and Windows system administration, virtualization with VMWare and Citrix, Storage appliances, networking and operations experience. You will play a key role in contributing to the systems strategy with the Program Manager to create a vision for the future of the system, built on the successes of the program and needs to the users. This role also is a senior technical resource contributing to the daily operations of the program. Your background is that of a talented, multi-discipline engineer versed in getting the best performance out of systems. You are familiar with High Performance Computing and/or both CPU and GPU based systems. You understand system administration, network engineering, storage solutions, and virtualization, with deep experience in at least two of those disciplines. Previous technical leadership experience I one of your calling cards.   Job Description   Responsible for the normal day-to-day operations and maintenance of the HPC environment Works as a senior resource to the systems administration teams Provide assessments, on-going performance analysis and recommendations for future architectures by contributing to the future HPC strategy for the client and its user base Comfortable working with client management, users, and engineering teammates to accomplish operational tasks Experience working to establish priorities with clients to lead the technical teams (agile/Kanban methodologies) Understanding of deploying and maintaining CPU and GPU based systems Experience with system administration (Linux/Windows), network engineering, storage and virtualization, with deep experience in at least two of those disciplines Understanding of, and experience with, the client’s security and control systems to work with the existing ISSEs to assure system compliance Experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems essential Previous experience in a production environment with help desk requirements Prior experience as a Systems Administrator, with a preference for experience working with clustered systems including GPUs in the hardware stack Other duties could be required to support the customer’s mission P #praxisjobs

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $261,651 - $353,999. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
