VSAT Technician – Korea
Perform diagnostics and maintenance support on U.S. Army VSAT equipment and subassemblies as a VSAT Technician at Camp Humphreys, Korea.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a VSAT Technician, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Worldwide Field Support contract for the U.S. Army. You’ll play a crucial role in providing on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyzing complex technical problems, and providing training to site operations and maintenance personnel.
● Troubleshoot and repair all issues with U.S. Army Inflatable Satellite Antenna (ISA) and Hawkeye III VSAT equipment to include communications electronics, computer systems, sensor systems, antennas, fiber optics, LAN and data communications, configuration and maintenance of servers, routers, switches, multiplexers, workstations and peripherals.
● Perform inspections of system components, preventive maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of modules and circuit cards to the lowest replaceable unit (LRU).
● Perform moderately complex technical functions such as set up, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical systems, or specialized test equipment to support products or product performance to validate, investigate and resolve matters of significance.
● Provide on-site technical and maintenance assistance, analyze complex technical problems, and provide training to site operations and maintenance personnel.
● Read and interpret schematic and engineering drawings and diagrams. Perform operational tests and return to service checks.
● Develop integration plans, perform hardware integration and manage documentation schematics and modifications.
● Configure computer software, communications devices, and peripheral equipment to operate within designated networks.
● Perform total system validation/verification after repair.
● Fabricate needed test fixtures when required.
● Provide advice, assistance, on-the-job training and instructions to users on the operation and maintenance of the VSAT system’s hardware, and software.
● Develop equipment and status reports and provide daily and weekly maintenance reports.
● Requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, reaching or recurring lifting of moderately heavy objects (75 pounds).
● Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your VSAT/SATCOM expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The VSAT Technician must have:
● Education: Graduate of the military technical school for MOS 25S / 31S
● Experience: At least seven years of experience repairing, maintaining, and modifying VSAT equipment whether active-duty military, government service, and/or contractor
● Technical skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with complex equipment, understand technical manuals, interpret system drawings, schematics, network drawings, and engineering drawings, possess high reliability soldering skills, ability to repair printed circuit boards, ability to use test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multi-meters, power meters, and power supplies
● Security Clearance: Secret
● Citizenship: US citizenship required
● Role requirements: US passport must not expire for at least 2 years, valid US driver’s license, and an international driver’s permit (AAA)

The likely salary range for this position is $70,658 - $94,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
