Project Manager – Datacenter Migration/Modernization

Job Description: 

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Datacenter Migration/Modernization a small, highly skilled team of senior systems, network, and cybersecurity professionals through the migration and modernization DoD data center common services and tenant applications in Europe. This role requires a unique blend of strong project management skills, technical expertise in data center operations, and the ability to coordinate complex technical work streams across architecture, engineering, and execution. The Project Manager – Datacenter Migration/Modernization will be responsible for ensuring all work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining alignment with stakeholder requirements. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in agile project management methodologies, capable of driving progress against key metrics, and comfortable engaging deeply with technical teams to ensure alignment between strategy and execution.

Core Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all phases of the data center migration and modernization project.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and milestones, tracking progress against agreed timelines.
  • Manage project scope, ensuring clear definition of deliverables and proactive handling of scope changes.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on project metrics, including schedule adherence, budget compliance, and quality performance.
  • Facilitate regular status meetings, ensuring clear communication of priorities, risks, and progress to stakeholders.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, developing and executing mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate efforts across multiple technical work streams to ensure alignment and efficient resource utilization.
  • Maintain effective stakeholder engagement, including executive leadership, business units, and technical teams.
  • Ensure documentation of project deliverables, processes, and lessons learned.
  • Apply agile principles to project planning and execution, fostering adaptive and iterative delivery where applicable.

Technical Knowledge & Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to senior technical staff in systems, networking, storage, and cybersecurity.
  • Demonstrate a strong technical understanding of enterprise-class data center operations, including high-availability architectures and disaster recovery principles.
  • Oversee and coordinate the design, engineering, and execution of compute, storage, and network infrastructure migration activities.
  • Ensure security considerations are integrated into all aspects of the migration, including access control, identity management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to validate architecture designs, migration runbooks, and operational readiness plans.
  • Support troubleshooting and decision-making during technical cutover and migration events.
  • Stay current on emerging data center technologies and modernization strategies to inform project direction.

Education:

A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience,

OR; An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience,

OR; A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience,

OR; 11 years of recent specialized experience

Experience: 5+ years experience technical project management experience w/data centers, design, engineering, and/or migration activities.

TESA Accreditation Requirements

A bachelor's degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience,

OR; An associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience,

OR; A major certification plus 7 years of recent specialized experience,

OR; 11 years of recent specialized experience

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $141,950 - $192,050. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
