Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to design, build, and sustain data-driven backend systems that power secure, high performance search and analytics capabilities for our customer. This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in multidisciplinary environments. Adept at combining backend development, data engineering, systems design, and DevSecOps. You will architect and deliver services that enable rapid data discovery, intelligent search, and mission-critical insights across multiple networks and environments. You’ll work within a fast-moving team of engineers and analysts dedicated to delivering reliable, scalable, and secure software that directly supports U.S. national security missions. This role is hybrid in Fayetteville, NC at Fort Bragg (3 days onsite, 2 remote).

Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

Architect and develop backend services for data ingestion, search, and retrieval across structured and unstructured data sources.
Design APIs and microservices that enable search, indexing, and metadata operations across multiple environments.
Engineer and maintain a unified access control layer and data models to protect and make operational and analytical data available.
Implement DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-ascode, and continuous monitoring across classified and unclassified networks.
Ensure system reliability and compliance with cybersecurity and accreditation requirements (RMF, NIST 800-53, etc.).
Collaborate across functional teams, including data science, cloud, and frontend engineering, to deliver end-to-end technical solutions.
Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, design documentation, and engineering best practices.
Support applied research efforts by integrating emerging AI/ML and search technologies into production-grade systems. Required Skills & Experience:

7+ years of professional experience in backend or systems engineering.
Advanced proficiency in multiple backend programming languages (Python, Go, Java, or similar).
Deep understanding of search and data systems, including indexing, query optimization, and caching strategies.
Experience designing and managing databases (PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/ OpenSearch, or similar).
Proven experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and container orchestration (Docker & Kubernetes).
Strong background in DevSecOps, including CI/CD (GitLab CI, ArgoCD, etc.) and infrastructure-as-code (Helm, Terraform, Ansible).
Experience building and maintaining secure, compliant systems in federal or defense environments.
Familiarity with distributed systems, API design, and secure service-to-service communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC), or federal agencies.
Knowledge of federated search, knowledge graphs, or data catalog technologies.
Experience integrating machine learning or natural language processing models into search or data pipelines.
Proficiency in data visualization, operational analytics, or dashboard frameworks.
Background in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) or large-scalesystems architecture.
Due to US Government Contract Requirements, only US Citizens are eligible for this role.

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required

Security Clearance: 

An active TS/SCI security clearance is REQUIRED. Candidates without this clearance will not be considered.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
