Job Description

GDIT has an exciting opportunity available for a DMF SATCOM Technician to perform diagnostics and maintenance support on U.S. Army large SATCOM terminals and network systems (STT, HCLOS, JNN, ESV, Phoenix). These systems are inducted in the Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) DMF program at USAG Humphreys, Korea to be repaired, upgraded, and refreshed prior to being returned to the unit. Successful applicant must have an active Secret clearance, be a self-starter, and have a high degree of SATCOM terminal knowledge. 

Description of Duties:

  • Troubleshoot all issues with U.S. Army SATCOM terminals to include communications electronics, computer systems, sensor systems, SATCOM systems, optics, LAN and data communications, configuration and maintenance of servers, routers, switches, multiplexers, workstations and peripherals.
  • Perform inspections of system components, preventive maintenance, testing and troubleshooting of modules and circuit cards to the lowest replaceable unit (LRU).
  • Perform moderately complex technical functions such as set up, operation, maintenance, modification, circuit testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical systems, or specialized test equipment to support products or product performance to validate, investigate and resolve matters of significance. 
  • Perform reset operations on STT, HCLOS, JNN, SMART-T, ESV, and Phoenix systems.
  • Read and interpret schematic and engineering drawings and diagrams. Perform operational test and return to service checks.
  • Develop integration plans, perform hardware integration and manage documentation schematics and modifications.
  • Configure computer software, communications devices, and peripheral equipment to operate within designated networks.
  • Develop equipment and status reports, and provide daily and weekly maintenance reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in electronics, and communications to include tactical Satellite Systems (STT, HCLOS, JNN, ESV, Phoenix).
  • Possess high reliability soldering skills and is experienced in repair of PCB (Printed Circuit Boards), and in the use of Test Equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multi-meter's, power meters and DC power supplies.
  • Ability to meet internal paperwork requirements.
  • Experience in interpreting system drawings, electronic schematics, network drawings, engineering drawings.
  • Experience troubleshooting, fault finding, and repair of electronic equipment.
  • Experience with communications analyzers (service monitors) spectrum analyzers, and volt meters.
  • BA/BS plus 2 years’ experience, AA/AS/plus 4 years’ experience, or a High School diploma and 7 years’ experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
  • US passport valid for at least 2 years.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least seven years of relevant experience in a technical capacity whether active-duty military, government service, and/or contractor. Graduate of military service technical school such as USAF 2EXXX / 3DXXX / ETC or US Army 35T / 35S or similar.
  • Experience with various COMSEC equipment and configurations, communication system, data-networks to include Fiber-Optics/Networks, and VOIP.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and isolate hardware or software configuration malfunctions in multi-vendor integrated networked systems.
  • Two years performing system functional analysis and failure data reporting, evaluate system performance, install approved system modifications, and recommend system architecture and technical change proposals.
  • Capable of performing analysis of system operations and performing training.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $69,700 - $94,300. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range. Total compensation for international positions varies by tax, social security, and immigration statuses, as well as location. Generally, an international assignment may include allowances, premium uplifts, and/or relocation or transportation benefits, above base salary range noted.
