Our work depends on a Systems Administrator Expert joining our team to evolve and maintain network infrastructure for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration.
HOW I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
• Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of the organization’s IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security. Expertise in Backup Configuration and Monitoring.
• Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup and restore strategies across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, virtualized environments, cloud).
• Monitor daily backup operations and perform regular restores to validate data integrity and recovery procedures.
• Manage backup tools and technologies such as Veeam, Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, or similar.
• Monitors systems performance and troubleshoots highly complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Perform data restores for users and departments as needed with strict adherence to service levels and compliance requirements.
• Troubleshoot, Report and resolve backup-related incidents and failures.
• Ensure backup systems are aligned with data retention, compliance, and disaster recovery policies.
• Maintain backup documentation, logs, schedules, and audit trails.
• Participate in disaster recovery testing and planning activities.
• Optimize backup strategies to reduce storage costs and improve performance.
• Provides technical knowledge and analysis of Backup applications and operational environments, high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration, documentation and implementation advice on exceptionally complex problems that need extensive knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation..
• Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
• Performs maintenance such as patch management, updates and backups.
• Plans and executes systems upgrades and hardware/software installations.
• Ensures systems are updated with latest security patches and software updates.
• Implements and maintains security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
• Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.

U.S. Citizenship Required
The likely salary range for this position is $127,500 - $172,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
