GDIT is looking for an Air Defense Simulations operator to join our team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The candidate should have a background from an Air or Missile Defense MOS and/or experience in Air Defense operations with preferred experience using air and ballistic missile defense simulation systems to develop realistic training scenarios. CompTIA Sec+ or higher-level DoD 8570/8140 certification is required as well as a related industry certification such as Windows server/desktop, Unix/Linux, and/or Cisco network certification.
This position provides air defense simulations and training support to the USAFCENT Air Warfare Center (AWC) and the Integrated Air & Missile Defense Center (IAMDC) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Emphasis is on transposing written exercise OPORDS, CONOPS, and/or training vignettes into realistic digital simulation scenarios primarily using EADSim while also leveraging other air and ballistic missile defense simulation systems. In support of those systems, the candidate will deliver systems maintenance, systems operation, systems instruction, network management, and information assurance management to provide expertise to the combat training, testing and simulation support to operational units.
The candidate must have Subject Matter Expert (SME) experience operating and maintaining Extended Air Defense Simulation (EADSIM) as the primary air defense simulations systems system.
Hands-on operator experience with one or more of the following systems a must:
Tacview flight analysis tool
Battlefield Operating Support System (BOSS)
Ballistic Missile Defense International Simulation (BMD I-Sim)
Multifunction Information Distribution System (MIDS)
Reconfigurable Table Top Trainer (RT3)
Familiarity with integrating with Global Command and Control System Family of Systems (GCCS FoS) and other Link-16 systems a must.
Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in creating and managing documents such as Exercise Control Plans, Deliverable Reports, After-Action Review (AAR) documents, Planning Conference notes, Meeting Minutes, and Exception to Policies.
HOW A SIMULATIONS OPERATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Develop framework for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) models and scenarios supporting Integrated Air and Missile Defense Center (IAMDC) and Air Warfare Center (AWC) training events.
Work side-by-side with the government customer to create a realistic air and missile defense simulation scenario in EADSIM and other air and ballistic missile defense simulation systems that enable the training audience to meet the desired customer training objectives.
Transpose customer Master Events Scenario Listing (MESL) items and Master Event List (MEL) training vignettes into digital scenarios in air and ballistic missile defense simulation systems that realistically reflect real-world weapon system capabilities and limitations. The simulations system must be scripted to match the desired location, time, and objective of the training scenario.
Provide simulations system operator and system administration support to facilitate at least four major exercises or air defense courses per year. This includes TDY travel to Saudi Arabia at least four times per year for a duration of up to 5 weeks each.
Facilitate accurate representations of kinematic trajectories, radar cross section (RCS), and infrared (IR) signature data for use in life fly events, simulations, exercises, and wargames.
Implement both scripted and dynamic constructive entities such as blue, red, and neutral forces with Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) events in air and ballistic missile defense simulation systems.
Initiate playback and/or re-runs of simulated scenarios as required by training coordinators.
Integrate multiple simulation tools for exercise and training events in coordination with other vendor support teams.
Operate and integrate Link-16 MIDS terminal to support exercise and training events.
Responsible for the configuration, maintenance, and operation of AWC’s simulation networks, servers, and supporting hardware/software.
Input sensor and weapon system parameters and validating system and database integrity prior to exercises; providing technical system support throughout the exercise; archiving system data and files after exercise vents and preparing systems for next use.
Integrate and manage a federation of Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) simulations / simulators into an unclassified LINK-16 simulations network to enable interoperability.
Install software and updates for both U.S. and UAE Windows and/or Linux-based simulation servers and workstations as well as Cisco network devices while maintaining compliance with cybersecurity guidelines.
Provide system overview briefings and products for exercise participants and relevant meetings; compile modeling data for group presentations and load user provided threat data.
The candidate may serve as the Site / Team Lead whose duties include:
Submit the Weekly Activity Report, the primary contract deliverable at the site level.
Complete, submit, and track Travel Authorization Requests (TAR).
Complete, submit, and track Requests to Initiate Purchase (RIP).
Maintain and track inventory of Govt Furnished Property (GFP).
Develop and maintain schedule of site personnel and exercise support timelines.
This is an unaccompanied position with a one-year minimum commitment at a remote, austere location near Abu Dhabi, UAE. Upon arrival in-country, the candidate will be required to apply for and receive a work visa and residence permit through GDIT’s chosen vendor for UAE employment sponsorship. A GDIT leased vehicle is provided for use while in the UAE. The import of a Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) is not allowed. A monthly fixed Housing Allowance (HOLA) is currently provided, but in the future GDIT Leased Housing may be provided in lieu of HOLA.
