General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a detail oriented, customer-focused, and motivated Strategic Solutions Architect with strong communication skills that is interested in becoming part of our Food and Drug Administration (FDA) team, supporting our customers with their critical mission needs.
The Strategic Solutions Architect will help lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and compliant enterprise solutions that align with program goals. The individual will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across different teams to gather requirements, address challenges, and ensure buy-in on key deliverables.
Part of the role will require assessing the potential impact of new requirements on the business and systems, identifying risks and opportunities, and recommending execution and mitigation strategies. The individual will collaborate with the execution team to ensure technology investments align with the product strategy and support the implementation of the target architecture. The individual will be actively involved in growth, capture, and program surge activities across FDA and other operating divisions under GDIT's Federal Health division.
**This role is a hybrid position requiring 3 days onsite at GDIT's Gaithersburg, MD office and Silver Spring, MD client location.
HOW A SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
● Supports capture and proposal efforts to secure new or re-compete contracts, or task order business by developing technical solutions for capture strategy and proposal responses.
● Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and compliant enterprise solutions that align with program goals.
● Ensure solutions integrate effectively with legacy systems and support emerging technologies.
● Collaborate with program leadership, federal agency stakeholders, vendors, and contractors to gather requirements and align solutions with strategic objectives.
● Communicate architecture strategies, roadmaps, and risks to agency leadership and program managers.
● Facilitate workshops and technical discussions to resolve design challenges.
● Work closely with program managers and business analysts to ensure solutions meet program milestones and deliverables.
● Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure program success.
● Provide direction and mentorship to development teams, ensuring adherence to business principles.
● Research and evaluate emerging technologies relevant to the agency, such as AI/ML and data analytics.
● Listen actively to understand team concerns, feedback, and requirements across different roles and workstreams.
● Foster a collaborative environment where team members from various backgrounds (government, contractors, vendors) feel valued and heard.
● Bridge gaps between cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on architectural goals and program objectives.
● Influence decision-making through data-driven recommendations and diplomacy, balancing competing priorities and viewpoints.
● Adjust approach based on evolving program needs, regulatory changes, or technological advancements.
● Respect and value diverse perspectives, experiences, and work styles within a federal and contractor ecosystem.
REQUIREMENTS:
● Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of related experience with health-focused agencies at the FDA and NIH required
● 10+ years of architecting large scale transformational projects
● Experience managing projects with multiple stakeholders
● Experience managing multi-system projects and self-organized, cross-functional project teams in a matrixed environment
● Familiar with Agile values, principles, processes, and methods such as iterative and incremental development
● Ability to attain a Public Trust clearance with residency in the US 3 out of the last 5 years required

The likely salary range for this position is $161,500 - $218,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
