MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Cloud Engineer Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of supporting data scientists in developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) proof-of-concepts. You will play a crucial role in growing GDIT's AI capabilities and business opportunities.
  • Lead the architecture, implementation, and optimization of AWS infrastructure to support innovative AI workloads, ensuring high availability and compliance.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, security teams, and stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable cloud environments using best-practice DevSecOps methodologies.
  • Drive cost optimization, security compliance, and operational excellence through automation, mentoring junior engineers, and fostering innovation in a small, agile team.
  • Utilize AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, Lambda, Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenSearch, ECR, DynamoDB, RDS, VPC), CloudFormation, Linux, Bash/Python scripting, Docker, Kubernetes, and Git.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Cloud Engineer Principal must have:
  • Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
  • Experience: 8+ years of related experience
  • Technical skills: Must have advanced proficiency in Linux OS, Bash/Python scripting, CloudFormation, networking, automation, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes; extensive experience with AWS services including IAM, S3, Route53, EC2, ECS, EKS, ECR, Lambda, Bedrock, SageMaker, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, RDS, and VPC.
  • Role requirements: Proven leadership in small, agile teams using Kanban and Agile methodologies; expertise in designing IAM policies, and security groups; experience with cost optimization (e.g., rightsizing resources, automating shutdowns); ability to create and standardize Confluence documentation, including architecture diagrams using Draw.io or Visio; strong communication skills for mentoring and collaborating with data scientists and security teams; AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional) highly desired.

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
