Uses advanced mathematical and analytical methods to help organizations solve problems and make better decisions. This position is responsible for identifying and answer questions related to detecting and mitigating Undammed Aircraft Systems (UAS) in a civilian airport environment. As part of the technology research team, the candidate will plan and execute research designed to collect research data and then organize and analyze this data the characterizes the performance different UAS detection and/or mitigation technologies when applied to an operational airport. The data analysis results will be detailed by the candidate in technology performance reports.

HOW A RESEARCH ANALYST SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Conducts quantitative analysis using operations research tools, economics, and other quantitative techniques in the areas of procedural implementations and performance issues. Creates analysis procedures.
Assists in the definition of machine learning and data mining strategies.
Creates, deploys, maintains and refines decision management models.
Specialist in modeling and simulation functions or operations such as, but not limited to exercises, plans, coordination, demonstrations, and instruction in the fields such as, but not limited to health, environmental, transportation, law enforcement, and security for military and civilian agencies.
Must have the ability to analyze research data to characterize system performance, and use this data to identify what, if any, areas require more and/or deeper research
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in operations research, computer science, engineering, business, mathematics, information systems, management science
Required Experience: Minimum of 6 years of applicable experience; A MS in engineering, computer science, analytics, or mathematics can be used to replace 3 years of experience
Skill requirements include project management/organization, research techniques, creating plans, cost estimation, risk management, logistics, data collection, analysis, technical writing, and presenting formal/technical information.
Timely development and completion of deliverables, which meet customer quality requirements, without daily supervision.
Able to define needed visual representations of this data (e.g., data distribution over time, heat maps, scatter plots, and system performance over distance).
Must have excellence written and verbal communications skills. Able to explain complex, technical material to technical and non-technical audiences.
Must have demonstrated ability to author technical reports that present research results in a clear, concise, and logical manner.
Able to provide technical direction to a highly a collaborative team of technicians, UAS pilots, other Operational Researchers, Radio Frequency (RF) / Spectrum Engineers and UAS SMEs. This includes developing and executing test plans, collecting test results, data analysis, and presenting findings.
Experience with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment using partially defined requirements.
Must be able to work outdoors, during all seasons, to support system installations, calibration and shakedown testing, and data collection.
May be required to lift objects weighting 25 lbs. or less
Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of JMP; Experienced with business process analysis or data manipulation; Demonstrative critical thinking and leadership skills.; Comfortable using leadership and critical thinking skills to lead decision making and assist with tasks such as cost estimates.
Airport, or aviation related experience or working at the WJHTC is preferred but not required, e.g. airport operations, flight operations, pilot license, Part 107 Cert, or other aviation programs

The likely salary range for this position is $83,429 - $109,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
